written by Adelina Lovegood-Braith
Riley Carson, a girl in 8th grade, goes to a school in Florida. She has blonde hair and pretty eyes, but she has one problem. Riley was born with no vocal cords, making her unable to speak, making her mute. The only way Riley can talk to people is writing words on a page in her "voice diary", which she writes words in to try to talk to people. Somehow, Riley befriends a girl named Andrea, who was born with selective mutism, which means she is only comfortable talking to certain people. Riley soons does an experiment, and finds out she has selective mutism too when she's able to talk. Maybe Andrea and Riley have more things in common than meets the eye.

Chapter 9
The next day, Riley was rather feeling sick. Not "sick" sick. She was angry at Alexia for stealing her crush. Riley didn't want to hide her feelings though. She took her science textbooks and went to the lab. Her class was learning about bacteria today and their teacher Mr. Delay, was passing out samples that had bacteria on them. One problem though, Alexia was standing next to Riley. "Hey, how's it going?" She asked. Riley grew angry. "We'll talk after class by my locker." She said angrily. Alexia nodded. Instead, she wanted to see all the contents on a piece of 5 Gum.
----
After class, Riley was waiting for Alexia by her locker. Then, she saw her walking by, but not to her locker. Filled with rage, Riley stormed towards the two.
