Chapter 5
Erin's POV
I rushed to the hall closet that the janitor had given me a key for and stepped in making sure nobody noticed me and locked the door. Crying, I sat on the floor and leaned against the locked door. I heard the doorknob jiggle telling me that somebody was trying to get in. I just sat there not giving a care in the world. I knew who it was and why they were there.
"Erin, please. Let me in." I kept silent though. Then he mumbled something I couldn't understand with the door in between us and I could hear his faint footsteps walking away.
Five minutes later I heard those same footsteps and another pair coming towards the door. I heard keys jangling and jumped up and started opening the door. As soon as I opened the door I was engulfed into a bone crushing hug. As I sat there trying to wiggle out of his grasp he whispered in my ear, "Im sorry. Im so, so, so, sorry Erin."
He lightly pushed me away from him with his hands on my shoulders taking in my appearance. I knew by the look on his face that he had seen the puffy red eyes, the red nose, and the tear stained face, as soon as he looked me in the eye he pulled me into another hug but lighter than the one before.
Luke's POV
I couldn't help but hate myself. Knowing that im the one that caused her pain. When I looked into her eyes it showed all the pain she was feeling. The second time I hugged her she had hugged me back, surprisingly.
"Come on Erin. Your lucky its lunch, otherwise you would've been late for class."
"Why are you being so nice to me? Are you trying to tell me to sit with you at lunch? Are you trying to say that you're sitting with me? What is wrong with me? Why is it that when people try to help me I push them away?"
"Erin, look at me." When she looked me in the eye I told her, "Im being nice to you because I know what its like to feel unloved. I know what its like to be left all alone. You can sit wherever you want. If you dont want to be alone then im here, you can sit with me, I can sit with you, i'll even take you to lunch if thats what you want. Theres nothing wrong with you. The thing that is wrong is that your family left you all alone with nothing and no one. You can try all you want to push me away but theres no way that i'm leaving you. No matter what i'm here for you Erin, whether you like it or not.
