Different Destiny
Chapter 5
When Isla saw her parents after the sorting ceremony, the were far more than displeased. Isla explained that she was just as confused as they were, and she didn't understand why it turned out this way. She of course knew the reason for her being sorted into Ravenclaw, but she did not want to confess it to her parents.
Her parents told her that her being sorted into Ravenclaw would change nothing about her destiny or their expectations. They told her that she would still follow the Carson family path, Slytherin or not.
Later on in her dorm, Isla began to think about this 'destiny' that she was meant for. The destiny she didn't want. She didn't want to harm people, and she didn't want to be a Death Eater. She wanted to be someone who protected people, and hated helping people who cause harm to innocent people. She wanted a different destiny. She wanted to be like her older ancestors. The ones who used to be protectors of the wizarding world, instead of following the ways of the boy who changed it all.
In that moment, she made a life altering decision. She had made the decision to go her own way, and to do what SHE wanted to do, not what her parents wanted her to do. She knew that there would be consequences to this decision. But she was prepared to take them head on if it meant that she could live by her own rules, instead of ones that were laid out for her.
