Melon ball is a much more popular and challenging game to play. One might describe it a bit like capture the flag except the flag is a melon that you are trying to burst all the while enchanting the crap out of it as well as fighting off the other team.
Usually teams will choose to split into two groups, an offensive squad and a defensive squad. Some team members who are more adapt at charms and enchantments will set up traps randomly around the arena, which is typically the woods surrounding Smornklituw's campus. They will defend the melon and stay closer to wherever it is hidden typically. The offensive squadron will go looking for the other teams melon, disenchanting and dueling the other team's traps and ambushes along the way.
Carraway house is quite good at melon ball, and will typically team up with Goodwing house if all houses are playing in one game. This usual team up has the effect of making Drennings and Boulford team up which usually becomes a bumpy road because they won't be able to agree with each other on tactics.
