Chapter 1
Crystal just finished her book, Silverwing, in the car when she and her mom pulled into the parking lot at the shoe store.
"Mom, I love this book!" Crystal exclaimed.
"I knew you would." Her mother said. "And if those books were real, do you know who you'd be?"
Crystal shook her head. "Who?"
"You would be a very special Silverwing bat." Her mother told her.
"Really?" Crystal exclaimed. Her mother nodded.
"Now let's get you some new shoes, shall we?" Her mom said.
Crystal followed her inside. At the counter Crystal saw a man finish with his previous customer. They walked up to the counter with the man behind it.
"How may I help you?" He asked.
"I would like to get some new shoes." Crystal told him.
"Well, what do you have in mind?" He questioned.
"I was wondering if you had any shoes with wheels on them?" She replied.
"Come with me." He said. The man lead them to a wall of shoe boxes. "Here are all the wheeled shoes we have."
Crystal spotted a pair of sneakers that were a beautiful shade of turquoise.
"Mom can I have these ones?" Crystal asked pointing to the shoes.
"Sure honey." Her mom said. She took a box of the shoes and went to the counter. At the counter Crystal's mom bought the shoes for her.
"Thanks!" Crystal called to the man as she and her mom walked out of the store.
