Chapter 1: Tumultus, the Sound Blast charm
Chapter 2
The majority of this chapter will be about the spell modifiers for this spell, rather than the spell itself. Tumultus releases a loud screeching sound from the user's wand. This spell is especially rarely used, in fact, in most cases, it is only used to provide an example for one of its modifiers.
Incantation: Tumultus (‘tuh-MULL-tus’)
Wand Movement: Single jab
Willpower: Low
Concentration: Low to high; determines how loud the screech will be
The amount of concentration exhibited will determine how loud the screeching sound will be. If a lot of concentration is exhibited, the sound will be louder.
Perhaps the most useful thing about this spell is its modifiers, and this modifier is arguably the most useful.
Incantation: Tumultus Translatio (‘tuh-MULL-tus Tranz-LASH-ee-OH’)
Wand Movement: Single jab; direct the sound with your wand
Willpower: Moderate; visualize the sound moving with your wand
Concentration: High; on the sound you want to capture/direct
The Sound Manipulation Charm has been kept a secret by selfish "sound-in-a-bottle" companies, because they want to gain more profits and not let society have the ability to do the sound capturing themselves. In more modern potions, sounds are often an ingredient, usually kept in some kind of container that is usually another component of the potion. Like I said earlier, the standard Sound Blast charm is usually used as the example spell to manipulate a sound.
The second and final modifier transforms the Sound Blast charm to the Deafening Charm. Here's the info:
Incantation: Tumultus Surdia (‘tuh-MULL-tus SUR-dee-uh’)
Wand Movement: Outward spiral ending with a single jab
Willpower: High; visualize the ability to hear slowly flowing out of the target
Concentration: High to very high; determines how long the target will be deaf
The Deafening Charm hasn't been kept quiet purposefully, but rather it just hasn't been discovered by many people. This spell is extremely useful during Wizard's duels, as it isn't illegal because it is just temporary, a successful cast will usually last for about 10-20 minutes, depending on how much concentration is exhibited. The downside to this spell is the high amount of concentration it requires.
Helpful Tips: Concentrate of the target's ears, sources say that with practice it will guarantee a successful cast.
That concludes the first chapter. This chapter was very innocent, the next chapter won't be as, well, nice.
