Orphaned and a ....witch?

Evie(Evelyn) Walworth slid across the ground of the orphanage laundry room as she sang along to the radio. " 1, 21 guns, lay down your arms.." She sang. " Shut up, you insolent little beast!" The Wardan yelled at her. Warden. That was what everyone called the woman who ran the place, Mrs. Johnson. Her eyes teamed up. "Oh mom. Why did you leave me alone with James." She silently cried. James was her stepfather. Her dad died when she was 7. A car accident. When she turned 10, her mom married James. James was a monster. He had beat Evie until her mom came home. The neighbors had called CPS, and they took her away with mom. She had lived there for a year, the oldest there. No one wants the adopt a 11 year old. So she stayed there. There was never any excitement, until that morning, when the warden called," there's a letteh for ya Evie!" ( owl me if you see anything I need to fix. Thanks!)

Marilyn was in the room when I reached the door. I was panting after running up the stairs. "Evie, what's wrong?" Marlyn asked, concerned. " I know we promised to always be together, Mary, but I have a felling I will be leaving. I got a letter today." Iexplained the situation as Mary sat and listened. " Well, what are you waiting for now? Open it!" Mary exclaimed. With shaky hands, I opened the letter and started to read it aloud. "Dear Evelyn Walworth, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Wait, what?" I read the letter. Marlyn had a look of shock on her face. "Call your mom. You still have the number right?" Mary suggested. I nodded my head. I brushed past my roommate and grabbed my coat. "Mrs. Johnson! I'm leaving to go to the store! I'll be back in a couple of hours!" I yelled to the warden as I pulled the door shut.
