Chapter 1
/A.N.: The year is messed up./
"Mother, why did we HAVE to move to... to... here?"
"Adrianne Miri, don't you realize... oh, never mind."
Though I was frustrated, I could understand why my mother might be reluctant to finish her sentence. Moving to Dufftown, Scotland, frustrated me. Why couldn't we stay in California? My tan bronze skin BELONGED there. What was she thinking? My brother, Michael Miri, interrupted my thoughts.
"Geez, Adrianne, I know you're mad about being here, but we're here, literally, now MOVE." He said in an agitated tone.
I looked out the window to see we indeed had arrived at our new home. It was big and empty, and the only colorful thing were the poisonous mushrooms and ivy. "This is the... "
"Yes, this is the house." My father said lovingly towards the structure, the STRUCTURE, not me. How could he like that THING? It probably let in drafts with the windows closed.
Luckily, I remembered that Michael was still behind me and I jumped just a moment before he moved. Mom sent a warning glance towards him, and I smirked.
Mom noticed. "Adri, please get your bag from the car."
I blushed pink. "Okay," I said, grabbing my tote from behind a still annoyed Michael. It was gray, with many concealed compartments. Bouncing up to my parents, I hopped up the dully painted front step. "Are you SURE?" The creaks and groans that escaped the step made me jump back. Michael laughed, a full out guffaw at my reaction.
Dad nodded, walking through the door, bent under the weight of his and mom's suitcase. Carefully, I followed through the arch. Everything after that was a blur, and I vaguely remembered stumbling up the stairs to the room dad directed me to. I plopped down on the floor and fell asleep.

I woke up to birds chirping and gray light filtering through the windows. I sat up, realized I was on the floor, dusted off my clothes, and stood up. Sleeping on the floor was comfier than I had hoped. That was good. Sighing, I walked over to my dropped bag and picked out some clothes: A cotton unicorn t-shirt, black hoodie and black sports capris. They were clothes, at least. A peppermint leaf would be nice too; I had morning breath.
"Pancakes for breakfast!" I heard someone - my mother - shout up the stairs. I grinned. Pancakes were YUMMY!
I ran out the door, down the hall and stairs I hadn't noticed last night, and into the dining room. I spun around, amazed with what I saw. The house had been cleaned, swept, everything (besides my room) was unpacked- you get the idea. And it all happened in one NIGHT. Then I glanced at the clock on the wall. 11: 00.
"Sorry, I-"
