I sprinted back to my dorm, and got my wand. "Alohomora." The lock clicked, and unlocked. I opened the door. "Come on, lets go." I said, herding them out the door. I closed it and started off down the maze of halls.
We reached the library. It's where we went when we were bored. "Oh! Guys! Guys guys guys! We can play rand-ook!" Suggested Abby. "Yeah!" Agreed Carmon.
Rand-ook is basically random books. You would walk into a random section, close your eyes, and pick out a book. You would have to read the whole first chapter. Abby went first. "I got...Potions 101. BORING!" She slammed her book on the counter. It made a loud loud thunking sound. Everyone looked over at us. We ducked behind a table. All of us were trying not to crack up. Only Carmon succeeded. Me and Abby were having a little giggle fit. We were covering our mouths to be quite. We ran to a corner of the library nobody was at, and let it all out.
Later, we came back. I went. I walked to a section where no one was in, and closed my eyes. I grabbed a big leathery one. I pulled it out and looked at the title. Animaguses and Werwolves.
It all came rushing back to me. The bite. It was Halloween night, and my parents left me home alone. I was about eight. I was sitting on the couch, watching a scary movie. All of the sudden, the door brakes down. I fall to the floor and hide under the couch, only able to see furry feet. I must have smelled me, because it lifted the couch up and threw in outside. I screamed, terrified. I hoped that the neighbors would hear. It barked, and bit my arm. It left the house soon afterward, leaving the door along with the frame and some of the wall on the floor. I was cold, and a little wet. It was raining, and the rain managed to get inside. I was paralyzed, to scared to move. My mom and dad were running home. I told them what happened.
I remembered he explosion that killed the father. I stood in the contraption, and it looked sloppy, even though more than just my dad worked on it. Other wizard scientists worked on it too. He flicked switches, pulled levers, and pushed buttons. It glowed, and glowed. Then, it started getting brighter. "Daddy? Is it suppose to be glowing like that?" It was blindingly white. "GO!!!" Shouted my dad. The scientists ran out. My dad ran towards me, helping me undo the straps. They had strapped me to the table like Frankenstein. It was glowing brighter. "Daddy!" He picked me up. Instead of running with me, he threw me across the room. I was barley conscious when it exploded. "DA-" I was knocked unconscious from the impact. They told me when I woke up that my father was killed in the explosion. I cried for days.
I dropped the book. I had a mental brake down, worse than the one when we were all first together. So bad, I was taken to the hospital wing. I was muttering. "Dad... W-wolf... killed... M-mo-monster... E-explosion..."
My eyes were darting all around the room, looking for something to help me forget. Carmon had gone to report this. I didn't tell him why. I didn't tell anyone why I was freaking out.
It was dark out now. I had missed a whole day. I would be so behind. "Get some sleep." Abby told me softly. "C-can't..." She looked over her shoulder, and back at me. She started to sing in the softest, sweetest voice I had ever heard.
"One thousand years ago, this story starts.
There were four sorcerers, with strong and wise hearts
Bold Gryffendor, from wild moor
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen
Sweet Hufflepuff, form valley broad
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen."
My eyes stopped darting around and focused on her. I stopped twitching and moving around. I was totally calm.
"They had a dream, to teach all that they knew.
Witches and Wizards came far, and it grew
'Til a castle stood tall, by the shores of a lake
And a thousand years later, the magic remains."
I felt so sleepy, and part of my brain wanted to shut down. But, at the same time, I wanted to stay and listen to this song that my mother used to sing to me as a toddler.
"Old Hogwarts sorting hat, sing me a song
Speak in my head, tell me where I belong
And when things look bad, and there's no we're to run
Unite all the houses, and we'll fight as one."
I started singing the song along with her. Together, we sounded beautiful.
"Brave Godric Gryffendor, favored the strong
Those who had courage, and knew right from wrong
Rowena Ravenclaw, taught only the best
So kind Helga Hufflepuff, would teach all the rest."
I loved this song. It told the story of Hogwarts. It had this effect in me, making me want to cry, or cringe.
"But Salazar Slytherin, had his own plans
He thought the Muggle-borns, didn't understand
The subtitles of magic, and he devised
The Chamber of Secrets, with a monster inside."
I leaned my head down against the pillow, so that I was laying down. I turned my head to face the left.
"Old Hogwarts sorting hat, sing me a song
Speak in my head, tell me we're I belong
And when things look bad, and there's no where to run
Unite all the houses, and we'll fight as one."
I closed my eyes, and let Abby finish the song.
"Old Hogwarts sorting hat, sing me a song
Speak in my head, tell me where I belong
And when things look bad, and there's no where to run
Unite all the houses, and we'll fight as one."
She silently stood up, ready to go.
"Unite all the houses, and we'll fight as one."
She walked away as I drifted away into the land of sleep.
