Chapter 2
This story has two points of view, so this chapter will fallow a different person, named Keira. I switch POV's every chapter.
Kiera walked down the metal hallway in the satellite, her heels clicking against the floor. She took a breath in, her thoughts filled with questions. What is it going to be this time? ‘I’ve been on so many missions, I don’t see how difficult this can be. ’ She was anxious, as always, but even more so that day than she normally was.
She pushed open a familiar wooden door, to be welcomed to a room that had a desk sitting in the middle along with two chairs. The walls had transparent glass, so you could look straight out and see space surrounding you. It was quite a sight, one that Kiera had enjoyed for the past 6 months or so. She sat on one of the soft leather chairs, facing her boss, Mr.Julio who had assigned her all her missions. She stared at her reflection in the mirror on the desk, her dark skin and eyes staring back at her. Most of the kids who wished upon our satellite thinking it was a star were young enough to want no more than a pony, or some simplistic wish that was easily completed. Kiera never gave a little girl a pony. She never made a little boy feel like a pirate. Her assignments were much more complicated than that. Kiera cleared her throat and began to speak. “I have been called here again, yes?” Mr. Julio nodded.
“Yes, you have.” he said “ As you probably have guessed, we have another wish for you to work on. I realize that you didn’t get very much time off, but we think that you may be of the only people who will be able to successfully complete this mission, or at the very least help the person who made this wish.” Keira and Mr. Julio conversed for a bit more, before Keira received the envelope, and left to pack for her trip to Earth to complete the wish.
She sat down at her desk, and put the envelope on her desk. She opened it, cleanly tearing the edges open. She pulled it open and emptied the contents onto her desk. She picked up the piece of paper that was folded, and opened it, preparing to see the wish. She read it. A sinking feeling erupted in her stomach. She didn’t want to kill anybody. Nonetheless, she picked up the other paper, describing her client. On the paper was 12-year old’s Ellis’s information. Keira’s eyes scanned the information. One could say that she was nervous, but that wouldn’t near explain how she felt at the time. Shaking, she picked up the paper on which it described Mika. A kid that she was supposed to kill. She dropped the paper, which fluttered back and forth and landed on the ground. She stood up and paced nervously about her room. Perhaps she could do something without killing the boy. So, Keira took her bag and began to pack it full of the things she would need. She closed it and walked down. People’s heads turned to look at her as she walked down to the pod that would send her back to her home planet. She had become a bit of a legend for the things she had done, the wishes she had granted. She cleared into an empty hallway. Soon, she neared the pod. Mr. Julio was there, waiting for her.
“Ah.” He said “I see you have accepted the request. I am glad.” Keira nodded before stepping into the escape pod. She hit a large red button that swooshed the large metallic doors closed. She buckled herself in as Mr. Julio’s voice came into the ship, counting down the seconds until her departure. Her shuttle dispatched and Keira went full speed back home.
