The Warning
Chapter 5
"Hope come on I need to talk to you" my dad was knocking on the door.
"Just come in the door isn't locked" I said staring out the window.
Dad came in the room and sat on my bed. I turned to look at him.
"Well what is it?" I asked.
"It's about your necklace. I thought I should tell you why I gave it to you" he said.
I sat beside him. Was he really gonna tell me? This was easier than I thought.
"OK" was all I could say.
"Well firstly this necklace belonged to your mother" I could hear sadness in his voice.
I couldn't believe it. My necklace belonged to my mum? I felt like taking it off but something made me stop. I never get to see my mum. Not even on my birthday. She's always at work. She doesn't even bother to send Christmas cards or birthday cards to us. It felled like she forgot she even has kids and a husband.
"I-it belonged to mum?" my voice was quiet.
"Yes, it's meant to protect you Hope"
"Protect me how?"
"Don't ask that it just protects you" he snapped then he left the room.
I was left alone again. I wanted to take off my necklace and never wear it again but it was as if it were the only thing I would see of my mum again and I couldn't. I loved the necklace. But I knew mum hated animals. Why had she had a wolf necklace? She wouldn't touch anything that had to do with animals ever. Why was my dad not telling me more? I didn't know. I got dresses and went downstairs. My dad wasn't around I was guessing he was in his room and Scorpius must have been in his room.
I quietly opened the front door and went out. The good thing about be mostly unnoticed was that it was easy to sneak out of the house. I walked to the forest. I knew where I was going. Actually I didn't. I know this forest so well. I kept walking. I got to a pine tree and climbed it as high as I could go. I sat there, watching the animals.
