Chapter 3
The Melofors Jinx - Melofors
is a jinx that encases the victim’s head in a pumpkin, although it appears to those watching to transform the victim’s head into a pumpkin. The pumpkin can be shattered to free the victim, or can fall apart on its own after a short time.
- Riddikulus -
is a charm that is used in defence against a Boggart. It causes the creature to assume a form that is humourous to the caster, thereby counteracting the Boggart’s ability to terrorise. Boggarts are defeated by laughter, so forcing them to assume an amusing form is the first step to defeating them. However, because Boggarts are amortal, this spell does not truly dispel them, similar to the Patronus Charm.
The Seize and Pull Charm - Carpe Retractum
is a charm that creates a retractable, magical rope made of orange and golden light. This rope can be used to pull objects within a certain distance towards the caster, or to pull the caster toward whatever they affix the spell to. It is generally used on inanimate targets, although it can be used on plants or animals. Although the spell is easy enough to cast, it takes a fair amount of force to pull the target upon which the charm has been affixed. It is easier for stronger, more muscular individuals to pull things than it is for those with less strength. Therefore, it is recommended that the caster lean backwards when pulling heavier targets, thus allowing their body weight to carry a portion of the target’s weight.
The Freezing Spell - Glacius
is a freezing charm that conjures ice from the tip of the wand, which in turn can extinguish fires, create ice blocks and cool off salamanders. The spell is capable of freezing several inches of water solid within seconds, making it durable enough for a thirteen-year old to walk across without falling through or injuring themselves.
The Orbis Jinx - Orbis
is a jinx used to suck the target into the ground. It can only be used if an ally is levitating the target whilst the spell is being cast. This spell is technically a type of earth magic, as it is used to suck the victim into the ground and hence burrows up a small amount of dirt with it; this is, indeed, the definition of earth magic. It encases the target in an orb and drags them into the earth. The spell appears as an azure whirlwind which encases the levitated target, wrapping around them and shooting off blue sparks.
The Aqua Eructo Charm - Aqua Eructo
is a charm that can be used to create a spout of water from the tip of the wand. The intensity of the water flow can be anything from a thin fountain to an immense, powerful and destructive jet. This water can be used for a variety of purposes, such as extinguishing fires, defeating salamanders, pushing things or even to do damage to creatures such as dugbogs and erklings, although it is most often used to extinguish flames, as above noted. it is required, in order to cast the Ebublio Jinx, that one use the Aqua Eructo Charm on the targeted creature.
The Ebublio Jinx - Ebublio
is a jinx that entraps the targeted witch or wizard, or indeed any target, in a very large bubble that cannot be popped by physical force .It appears as a brilliant purple jet of light accompanied by purple flame and smoke . It is useful when fighting Dugbogs and Erklings .
The Reductor Curse - Reducto
is a curse that can be used to blast solid objects into pieces . It is rather easy to reduce a target to a fine mist or a pile of ashes .

is the incantation a charm that forces objects to shrink.
- Levicorpus -
is the incantation of a jinx. The spell, which was intended to be cast nonverbally but which can be spoken aloud, causes the victim to be hoisted into the air by their ankle; the counter-jinx for this spell is Liberacorpus. Liberacorpus is the incantation for the counter-curse to Levicorpus.
The Shield Charm - Protego
is a term applied to several varieties of charms. They create a magical barrier to deflect physical entities and spells, in order to protect a certain person or area. Conjurations may sometimes rebound directly off it back towards the caster or in other cases, may ricochet off in other directions or dissipate as soon as they hit the shield.
- Protego Duo -
is the incantation of a charm used to protect the caster from physical and magical attacks alike.It is a more powerful version of the traditional Shield Charm, although it is not as powerful as Protego Horribilis, Protego Totalum or Protego Maxima.
