Charms #13-24
Chapter 2
- Vermillious -
is a charm that precipitates red and orange sparks from the wand tip; these sparks emit a reddish smoke from them as well. They can be directed towards another to do damage, for example, in duelling, or against plague rats. It is the lesser variant of Vermillious Duo and Vermillious Tria.
- Vermillious Duo -
is the incantation of a charm that can be used to conjure a jet of red sparks and electrical discharge. This spell can, consequently, be used in duelling.
- Vermillious Tria -
is a charm that is used offensively in duelling. It is the most powerful version of Vermillious and Vermillious Duo.
The Verdimillious Charm - Verdimillious -
is a charm that produces green energy from the wand by means of sparks . These sparks can be used to reveal objects hidden by the Dark Arts, or can be used in a duel .
The Verdimillious Duo Spell - Verdimillious Duo -
is a charm that produces green or red energy from the tip of the wand . It holds a number of useful purposes, and is rather easy to cast. Like its precursor, Verdimillious Duo can have two forms with very different effects, although unlike the Verdimillious Charm, this spell’s dual forms are marked by varying colours. If one quickly casts the charm while aiming for a specific target, green sparks and electrical discharge will explode from the wand and crackle all around the victim, hence proving very useful in duelling . When used a number of times by more than one witch or wizard on a werewolf, the beast will be temporarily subdued. If one draws out the casting, saying the incantation slowly and waving the wand in a circle overhead, aiming for thin air above the caster, an orb of red light will be thrown skywards from the tip of the wand like a flare. Once it reaches a certain point it will explode several feet away in a blinding flash of white light, thereby illuminating the entire room for a short time . While the light of the charm fills the room, objects hidden by Dark magic will be revealed, although unlike its precursor, objects hidden by Verdimillious Duo remain tangible and visible even after the light fades . Nonetheless, green sparks will still be floating around the enchanted objects for a while after the light disappears .
- Periculum -
was a charm that allowed the caster to send out red sparks from their wand. The sparks were firework-like in appearance, and had a vast range, shooting up to a great height, then hovering in the spot where the caster aimed. Much like a Muggle flare gun, the spell was used to signal that one was in danger, and thus in need of help. This spell may be related to Vermillious, a spell which seems to also produce red sparks. Periculum may also be a variation of Green Sparks and Red Sparks.
The Disarming Charm, - Expelliarmus -
was a defensive charm which forced the victim to release whatever they were holding at the time. It is common to see this spell used in duels, to make an opponent release their wand.1 It is not known precisely who created the Disarming Charm. Some wizarding historians claim that it may have been invented by Merlin himself, others claim that its first widespread use was in Madagascar in the 11th century. Even if any of this is true, the fact remains that it was not very popular until 1379, when Elizabeth Smudgling used it in a duelling contest in Dartmoor. who may be the actual inventor due to this fact.
The Tongue-Tying Curse - Mimble wimble
also known as the Tongue-Tying Spell, binds the target’s tongue to keep him or her from talking about a specific subject. This feature also allows one to prevent the victim from incanting, and hencelike the Silencing Charmit is useful when duelling - though could be overcome with more advanced magic.
The Tickling Charm - Rictusempra
also known as the Rictusempra Charm , is a spell that causes a victim to buckle with laughter. It also has at least two other side effects on the victim.
The Banishing Charm - Depulso
is the counter-charm to the Summoning Charm. As Accio summons objects to the caster, Depulso sends objects away. Unlike the Summoning Charm, which can summon specific objects from anywhere, the Banishing Charm banishes whatever the wand is aimed at.
The Full Body-Bind Curse, - Petrificus Totalus
is a curse that paralyses the opponent. It is often used by inexperienced or young wizards in duelling. The victim’s arms and legs snap together, and heshe will fall down, stiff as a board. However the person’s skills to hear, see - however just straight forward -, feel, and think still work properly. The Full Body-Bind Curse is fundamentally different from petrification, which is highly advanced Dark Magic and which cannot be reversed by a simple counter-curse.
The Cushioning Charm - Spongefy
creates an unseen softening effect on target surfaces. It is primarily used in broomstick manufacturing to make the brooms more comfortable for riders.
