Lily (Lilium)

The lily is recognized for its flowers
The flowers have 3 petals surrounded by 3 sepals
Lilies are blue, orange, pink, purple, white and yellow
Lilies have many flower shapes- bowl, funnel, recurved, star and trumpet
Not all lilies produce flowers
Lilies need bulbs
Lily bulbs should be planted 1/4 of an inch underground in nutrient rich soil
Lilies need partial access to sunlight- about 5-6 hours is great
Regular water is fine for lilies
Lily stems can be green, red or purple
Lilies are 1-10 feet
The lily stem is thick and sturdy, but the weight of the bulb often bends it over
Lilies catch sunlight and turn it into food (all plants do this)
You should allow the lily to "die back" without ant interference

Lilies are poisonous to cats and kneazles
Lily leaves are a high source of fiber when dried
Lilies are good for heart conditions
Lilies can be a treatment of angina

In a tea, lilies are a treatment of coughs, fever, stomach disorders, wounds, sores and swollen bruised areas
Muggles use lilies in aromatherapy
Lily scent induces happiness and security
