An Old Friend

Chapter 5
Kirito was having a hard time staying where he suppose to be. He waited by the fire for three minutes before not caring anymore if he stayed and waited and ran off after Kabel. When he got there, Kabel was watching a shaking bush. "Okay, I'm pretty sure you were crazy before this, now I know you're a complete idiot."

"I SWEAR ILL oh." He jumped and spun around, a spear rising from the ground right in front of Kiro, barely missing him. When he regained his composure, he crouched down again, going back to the bush. The spear faded away, going back INto the ground. "Shut up and get down. I'm not crazy, there's somethin in that bush. Watch." He poked it. The bush trembled slightly but didn't do much more. "There's something iiiinnnn theeeerrrre..." he hissed. He poked it again. Nothing happened. He stood up, yelling, "oh come on!!!" Suddenly, the copper-colored creature flew out at him, screeching, and grabbed his face, scratching him. Kabel screamed, running around and hitting the screeching thing. It seemed to be screeching vaguely English words, but he couldn't tell.

Kirito managed to easily dodge the spear. It would take more than that to get rid of him. He then was surprised to see a copper colored creature fly on to Kabel's face. Kirito watched them and laughed. "Jeez, you are hopeless." He said and then crouched down to where Kabel and the creature were. He then picked up the weird creature with one hand. "Listen bug, you can obviously speak English so you better listen well. Do anything and I'll burn you to a crisp." He said while lighting up his free hand to prove it.

Kabel stood up, his face, neck, and shoulders covered in cuts, and the collar of his shirt shredded. he would have to figure out how to mend that later. right now tho, he had to focus on this... disturbing creature. it looked like a small human, about two feet tall, with copper brown skin covering its body, which had six legs, which ended in sort-of feet, more like claws more than anything. its limbs were long and slender, and its arms ended in long, thin, dexturous 4-fingered, 2-thumbed hands. it was wearing something like a sort of cloth around its waist, or erhaps multiple, twisting around his legs and waist. it was wearing a sort of bracelet as well, which glowed a pale blue in silver metal. he decided not to touch that. he really didnt want to touch the thing at all. it was obvious it was thin just as it was, but it looked like it was starving. he reached up and touched his face, thinking he probably was his prospective dinner. "aight," he said, staring the thing in the face. "wha-what are ya, you little bug." he quite liked that name for him. Bug. it suited the skittery creature. the creature turned its eyes, as Kiro had grabbed its head, to look at Kabel. "whatsen i be essen essen it asks? hm... better be whazee be, whazzen oo, ey?" Kabel really hated this things voice, its weird, raspy, sandpaper-like sound. "were humans. your turn." it looked at him, unsatisfied. then it looked down at its bracelet, and back up to Kabel. "mm... yessen whasever Lao Cow asken asken us t'be." he said. "thesayin i essen Unklig, Unklig i essen, essen i Unklig..." he rolled his eyes around, chanting it over and over in a sing-song voice.

Kirito shook the creature a bit, getting annoyed at the creature's singing tone. "Just talk alright, not sing. And no chanting. " he said, remembering something. "I don't need more chanting in my life." Kirito then looked at Kabel "Is it just me or this bug thing is crazy."

Wildfire followed DeathFire as close as she dared "Hey Death! we gettin close yet?" he looked over his shoulder "nope. not halfway there even." he turned back "we've changed camp a lot. oh and watch your head for scat" Wildfire looked up and barely dodged a flying piece of brown, stinky something "thanks for the warning." he stopped at the edge of a chasm "so what next?" he jumped up into a tree "We climb Wild, i woulda thought you knew that." Wildfire jumped up behind him "we don't climb trees in Crystal's facility." she spat on the ground after she said his name. "well then." DeathFire walked confidently along the branch, leaping to a new one when one ran out. Wildfire followed close behind

"Mm... yeah, I believe so, yes. He's crazy." He bent down to eye level with the Unklig creature, who was muttering something about stupid weirdos. "So... your name is Unklig? Weird. Anyways, where are uh... where are you from, Unklig?" The thing stared at him, frowning. "Mmmm... no," he said at last. Kabel stood up. "D'ya think we should take Bug here to the others?" He said, staying out of a swipe. "I think they would like to know about this. Though, they seemed insistent on me finding this elm." He nodded towards the old tree. He glanced at it, then added, "though, it gives me the creeps..."

Kirito didn't like looking at the thing, in fact. It was taking all of his strength not to barbecue the thing to a crisp. "I don't know what we should do, I don't always have all the answers." Kirito said but his mind was elsewhere. Just then something touched Kabel's shoulder. It was a hand. Kabel jumped in fear and Kirito looked at him in surprise. Kirito then immediately turned around, ready to see what had frightened Kabel when he saw Fallon looking slightly unnerved at the moment.

Wildfire stopped in a clearing. 'shoot, i lost him.' she walked to the center and looked around, in the trees and bushes. the ground shook and she looked down. Wildfire gasped as she took a step back and saw that the clearing was one big paw print "Welcome Wildest Fires." she spun around to see a scarred tiger walk into the clearing. "Bronze Dawn." she quickly bowed and a triplet of tiger kits tumbled out after the leader but stopped when they saw Wildfire "who's that?" "i don't know." "she called Dawning Bronze Sun by his informal name." Wildfire smiled "those your's" Bronze chuckled "no, they're Gold Flame's." a young tiger crashed through the undergrowth out of breath "Dawning Bronze! Dawning Bronze!!" he shouted and tigers seemed to appear out of thin air everywhere "Dawning Bronze Su.." "get to the point Red Wind." the tiger stumbled "o-ok. some people are at Elm's Hock." he glanced at Wildfire and whispered "like her." shocked Wildfire looked at Bronze Dawn "what! you haven't told them anything have you. gosh, you stubborn piece of gristle." she laughed "just like always. yes i know there are people like me at Elm's Hock. let's have some fun with them first. is Illusion Shadow still here? and Breaking Star?" two tigresses jumped out of a tree "hey Wild? wats up?" a silver one asked "hello Breaking Star, Illusion Shadow." the black one nodded. "let's have some fun with my friends shall we?" Wildfire smiled as the two took off "just like when we were kits."

Kabel nearly died of a heart attack when Fallon touched his shoulder, and then nearly killed her with another poorly aimed spear. "Geez! Tell me next time before I think you're a thing trying to slit my throat! He sat on the ground at the base of the elm, breathing hard and laying a hand on his chest. "My gosh..." then something rustled in the bushes. He shot up to his feet, not wanted to have his face scarred any more than it was. He touched it, feeling how the claw marks were already beginning to become ridges. The bushes rustled again. "Fallon, Kiro, move back. I gots me some stone right where you're standing that could shoot up, and I don't want to hit you. It sounds like more bugs are out here..." but the bush was larger, and the rustling louder, and... a sort of... purring? Wonderful, giant cat-bugs.

Star Illusion and Shadow surrounded the threesom. Wildfire coughed to herself and did her best imitation of Pyro "oh! what fun!! Kable! sweetie, how's the leg? Falcon. shouldn't you be in a cell by now?," she spat the word cell and giggled "and you! this should be fun. oh how i missed you, stuffed up in that thing. ah! i see you've met my friends and allies, the Tigers." Wildfire giggled to herself at their faces "what's the MATTER Kabel? hmf if you don't MIND the joke." she start started to laugh hysterically as her striped friends dropped their makeshift balls of yarn. and at Kable's, Fallon's, and Kirito's faces "what's the matter? think i'm KITTEN MEW?" she fell on the ground as the tigers jumped out of the bushes and swatted the balls around and around the three and put the ends in their mouths purring in amusement, then pulled them tightening the loops and binding their feet together. Wildfire stepped out "HAHAHA! you should've seen your faces!! PRRRiceless!!!" she laughed again "hello again. find Winter yet?" she smiled insanely

the bush rustled once more, and then spoke. Kabel's eyes went wide with horror. that slippery son of a gun... IT WAS FRIGGIN PYRO!!!! he backed towards the tree, breathing rapidly. last time she had met them face-to-face, with a bear. a single bear. not too difficult to take down. but now they were in her element, and... da heckity hoo????? balls of yarn dropped out from the dark, and then tigers-- big ones, ahm tellin yeh, they wus THEES BAYG--, but instead of tearing them to shreds and feasting on their still-alive bodies, they grabbed the yarn and tied them up before anyone could react. next thing he knew, he, Fallon, Kiro, and even Bug were all tied in a bunch. Kabel didnt know about the others, but as much as he loved Fallon and Kiro, he didnt quite like being this close. then as suddenly as everything else had happened, Wildfire stepped from the shadows, laughing her head off. Kabel had the unfortunate luck of being tied facing the middle of the bunch, but at least then he see Wildfire now. "gosh dang it you heathen, thats like the third heart attack ive gotten in the past half hour! youre gonna kill my heart one of these days, i swear!" he was starting to calm down, but he was still very, very annoyed.

Fallon was pretty much in shock at what had happened. First she scared Kabel out of his mind, now this? She tried to wriggle out of the dumb yarn but wasn't successful. She glanced to see Kirito just relaxing, looking totally unfazed. "Of course, that guy never gets scared, not once." She muttered to herself and glanced at Kabel who looked very uncomfortable for some reason. Fallon sighed and looked at Wildfire. "Uh can you guys untie us." She asked quietly. Kirito laughed and his feet lit on fire, burning through the yarn. He stood up and reached for Fallon's hand, helping her up. Kirito then turned to Wildfire. "nope, haven't even bothered to look for what's her face." he said and then looked at the tigers. "Cute, fluffy cats, nice." He said and then straightened his shirt which had been slightly wrinkled.

Wildfire laughed her head off and Star, Illusion and Shadow purred "oh guys. Kable what's wrong?" she laughed like Pyro but stopped "i'm sorry what? the only girl no Person in the known galaxy besides the Kal who know every single square inch in her head." she stopped and motioned to the two big cats "illusion Shadow and Breaking Star. Star, Shadow. Kabel, Fallon and whatever your name is. good, now that we've got that down. we've got to find Winter so she can go to the wolves." she muttered something along the lines of "and Mira to talk to the Foxes" too low for people to hear, Wildfire looked back and a stone spear shot out of the bushes

Kirito nodded to the cats and then noticed that Wildfire had said something pretty quiet. Luckily for him, he was able to make out a couple of words. 'Mira talk..to foxes?' It didn't exactly make sense but then again, most people would be able to create fire with the flick of the hand. A stone spear shot out of the bushes. It would have hit Kabel straight in the chest if he hadn't simply trapped the pole which the spear was attached to, stopping it about two inches from Kabel's face.

she jumped out of the way but soon realized that it was now heading for Kabel. after Kirito stopped the spear Wildfire looked at the cats who were bristling and growling glaring at the bush. Star looked at Wildfire and nudged Illusions who headed to the right while Star circled around to the left. grinning from ear to ear, Wildfire jumped into a tree and disappeared into the canopy

Kirito watched then run away, jumping off into the forest like they had practiced it millions of times already. Kirito glanced at Fallon to see her looking off in one direction like there was something over there.

Kabel stood, staring down at a spear that was literally RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FRIGGIN FACE. It was just suddenly there, and if Kirk hadn't grabbed it, he would have been impaled like an insect who had Been unfortunately acquainted with a shrike. Then, Wildfire and the tigers were gone, and he, Kiro, and Fallon were left standing there. Fallon was spacing out, staring into the woods, and Kiro just looked Noreen as usual. "So uh..." he began, eyeing the spear as if suddenly it would start moving again. "Now what?" He looked over at Fallon, who was still staring into the woods. "Oy, Fallon, you K?" He asked. She looked like she was just staring into space, but Kiro was looking in the same direction. Kabel looked over as well, but saw nothing, save the darkness of the forest. "Um... guys?"

Wildfire leapt from branch to branch and stopped above someone crouching in a hawthorn bush, she stopped and waited for Star to sound. soon enough she heard a wolf howl even though there was no moon, and no other wolves for miles another 'wolf' joined and Wildfire hooted like a great horned owl. even though there had not been one in many years. the howling stopped letting the note hang in the air. she smiled as the person looked around obviously confused. smirking Wildfire growled and dropped out of the tree as Star and Shadow shot out of the bushes, looking up. the stranger didn't see the tigers until they had snapped his achilles tendon sending him crashing to the ground. Wildfire landed on his chest knocking the breath out of him.
