Into The Woods

Chapter 4
Yeah, See? Wildfire's on my side. You should listen to her." He looked back at Pyro and the kid standing over her. "Also, I don't think fires gonna do much to her. She's called Pyro, after all."

Kirio shrugged. "whatever," he grumbled mostly to himself "I thought it was a grand idea. And it's not like my fire is like normal fire."

Wildfire looks at Kabel "that's what she calls herself. Pyromance. it's her little show name. her real name is Somnium. which is Illusion in Latin. so ya." Winter added "oh ya, i remember that. Pyromance, we used to tease her that she Pied Romance. it was pretty funny at the time." they both smiled "anyway, fire doesn't hurt her anyway for some reason. we never did find out why." Winter and Wildfire looked at Pyromance.

"aight, then lets bag 'er up and get going before someone dies." he makes a little bubble of rock around Pyro, and then noticed something else. "oi, whabout the bear?" he nodded to a less-than-alive-looking pile of fur over to the side a bit. "just leave him or whata we do with em?" he made a small golem rise up from the ground to carry Pyro's ball-box-bubble-thing. just because it was easier.

Kirito grinned wickedly 'Who want's roasted bear?" he asked and immediately Fallon ran in front of Kirito, blocking him from the bear. Kirito laughed "Geez, you should have seen your faces." his laughter died down after a couple of second and he added "You guys always talk about life and death, you should try to be a bit more lively. We only live once...." He said but his eyes slightly darkened at the last sentence, like he was remembering something. "Right!" he said, acting more upbeat like not

nothing had changed. "So, I mean I can fly and carry like one person, two at most. Fallon could probably get enough strength to get some power back to do some teleportation, though I don't think it would be all that safe. Kabel can use his power and use rocks to do whatever he can to keep up. And Wildfire and Winter can fend for themselves." he said with a grin. Kirito heard an outburst from Wildfire, getting anger at kirito's statement. "Or, we can just stay here to be locked up again." He pointed out to all of them

"You make a fairly good point Kirito. But I can't just leave Raging River here. " Pyro was starting to scream and laugh Simultaneously
"SHUT UP YOU PSYCHOPATH!!" Wildfire shouted at Pyro who started to laugh harder than before while gasping about air supply "hey Kabel? we don't want to kill her. at least not yet." Winter winced as Pyro started to wheeze "i think we can keep up with you guys." Wildfire created a column of fire to sit on "i don't know what she does but she'll keep up." she said pointing to Winter

The golem shook the box Pyro was in to get her quiet. "Before we go, though, we have to have a place to meet. Someplace where we can hunker down or something. Perhaps we could sneak back to the city and gather some food and things." He paused, then pointed to the kid. "Except you. You're basically a tank with a mouth that could swallow the planet, we don think need a shock-and-awe, we need something called 'stealth.' I'm sure you've heard of it." He grinned a bit, pleased. "If it were up to me, I'd say Fallon goes." He pointed to Fallon, then gestured to Wildfire and Winter respectively. "Cuz miss line-em-up-burn-em-down here is too much like you, and I dunno what Winter here does. I mean, I could guess, but yknow. Anyways, Fallon has mind stuff, she could get in rather easily. Just try to find a spot to put the stuff, then have that guy, sorry I still don't know your name," he pointed to the kid, "pick it up and brink it to wherever we are. I mean, as long as yallsre ok with that." He leaned against a tree again; the free standing was making his side hurt again.

Fallon was surprised that anyone would want to her to help. "I'm fine with that." She said when Kirito stood in front of Fallon, his eyes close. "She's not going. I don't care if you knew her in the past, you probably don't remember anything anyway but I forbid it ." he said and then locked his eyes onto kabel's, his as cold as ice. "I made a promise awhile ago and I'm going to start breaking it. Take Winter instead, I have a feeling she would be more useful."

He then looked at Wildfire. "And besides , if you really need one more person, I'll go." He said but was later punched in the arm a couple seconds later by Fallon. "Yeah right, just because I have no memory of my past like you, doesn't mean I can't handle myself." She retorted. Kirito grumbled in annoyance. "You can and that's that." Kirito argued, and sighed. He then looked Kabel in the eye, his gaze looked full of coldness. He walked past him, and whispered quietly so that only he could hear.

Kabel looked at the kid, then Winter, and back. "Fallon can teleport, and has telepathic capabilities. She can get in faster, with the least amount of destruction I mean," he glanced at the golem at the last piece, "and she can pass virtually unnoticed. Besides, she's resourceful, she can figure it out. If thing she go wrong she could handle it. It may be cliche, but I believe in her. All of our survivals depend on what's we do next. If we sit here's fighting, we die. We don't get someone stealthy," emphasis on 'stealthy', "in there and out, we die. There's no way we can get enough food ourselves to live."

"I'll allow her to go with my permission, but if anything happens to her..." He said while walking away. "I'm getting fire wood." He called out before disappearing.

Wildfire and Winter just sat down on a log to listen when Kirito stomped off Winter stood up and said "actually, you'll need my help. one, the door is locked, and two the store room is made of a metal that you can't teleport into." she pulled out a crystal from around her neck "me, Wildfire, Oak and a few others. along with the Elders had the keys to get into the store room." she glanced back at WIldfire who glared in turn at Winter "and Wildfire lost hers."

Wildfire shot up "I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DECAPITATING SOMEONE! how was i supposed to know that while they were trying to stab me, that they stole my crystal?!?!?! goddess." she walked off in a random direction singeing everything that touched her Winter looked at Kabel and Fallon "and four became three. oh well, she'll come back eventually. Rye and the others had little caves that they hung out in but i don't know if they'll fit us all. i can get us in, but not out. once we take the things an alarm will go off. the Kal will be there within the minute. cause they'll be staying in the barracks which are down the block from the 'bank', food house and all the other stuff."

Fallon was tempted to mention something about metal and teleportation but for some reason, she had a gut feeling to stay quiet. "You know, the longer I'm here with all of you, the more it seems that Wildfire and Kiro alike." She said thoughtfully, and she added "but it seems that Kiro knows more than us, like he's keeping something secret. Anyways, I don't think we should go back. It will be like walking into a steel metal trap. They're be waiting for us. "

Winter frowned "true. they might Fallon. but there isn't much to eat around here. or anywhere for that matter, Crystal never told us where he got the food and all the other things. there are dispare berries though. i know that. and Wildfire knows where some sugar cane is." she paused looking at the trail of singed greenery "it shouldn't be too hard to find her." Winter started to walk towards the burnt trail

Fallon looked at Winter in conferment. "I never received a rule book, so I left all the time. There's a lake about a mile from here, it has natural wildlife and birds. I've also noticed that there are deer by it, along with some types of fruits. But then again, we could need fresh water." Fallon said

Kabel stood up. "If all of you are going, then we need one who can tank just in case things get ugly. Since Kiro- that's his name, aye? Since Kirk ain't to fond of the plan anyways, I guess I'll serve a second the mighty meatshield." He winced, clutching his side. "That is provided whatever the heck happened here doesn't kill me first." He leaned up against a tree to prevent himself from falling over. Suddenly, his face went from pained do to terrified, and he thought he should say something, but instead decided to wait till Winter came back, presumably with Wildfire. "So, Fallon, is teleportation like... hard? Is there a bunch of stuff ya gotta do? Or is it like walking, it just comes naturally?" Her turned his head to her, glancing between her and the scorched warpath from Wildfire. "Cuz IT Justin seems like you'd have to prepare a whole buncha stuff n whatnot n... I dunno... yknow?"

Fallon looked at Kabel in surprised. "You're injured! You should have mentioned that earlier." Immediately Fallon walked over to Kabel and put her left hand on his shoulder and looked into his eyes. "This might feel tingly a bit but it will make you feel better. " Fallon then placed her other hand on his wound. A warn colored glow came from her hand, and where Kabel's injury was. Kabel's expression changed from pain to relief. When Fallon removed her hand, the wound was halfway healed. Fallon took a deep breath "That...took...a lot...out of me." he nearly managed to make herself sit on the ground instead of falling and hitting her face into the ground. She took some deep breaths, her vision becoming slightly blurry. "I'm sorry," She managed to say "If I had know sooner, I would have healed you earlier. I wish I could heal you more but since I do darkness magic and not light, healing really isn't my type of skill." She said to him, feeling ashamed.

Kabel was very confused. First Fallon comes over, a lot closer than most people do and closer than most should, then next thing he knows the pain in his side was mostly gone. He looked down at Fallon and shook his head. "Don't be sorry for me, m8, you're the one who just like... went all spooky and looks like they're about to die. You didn't have to do that, it would've healed on its own." Unspoken was the addition of 'I hope', but he didn't want to make her feel worse. 'Oh wait, she's a mind reader...' he tried to shove the thoughts out of his mind like a kid trying to hide the fact they were building a nuke in their room when their mom comes in, but it didn't work. "Anyways though, what was that? I didn't think you were a Life."

Fallon gave a small smile. "It's called dark heal." She said quietly. "For some reason I remember all these types of spells. It's the only type of memory I have." She said and then winced slightly. "I sort of over did it." She then glanced off to were Kirito had gone. "It's like I know all of you, but for some reason I can't remember. It's life almost all my life was ripped away from me, leaving me blank." She then looked down at the grass. "I have a feeling you already know this but I can read minds. I feel horrible when I do. It's like thousands of voices are talking at once so I try to block it out. And there are those who can shield their minds away from me, which I'm glad they can. I hate prying into everyone's mind. It makes me feel nosy too." Fallon slowly stood up "It's more like a curse than a power in my opinion." she then added. "I'm always happy to help someone in need." She said and then looked off to where the underground city was. "We should get going."

Kabel nodded. "Probly. But Winter and Wildfires aren't back yet." He heard something crash in the forest. After getting up from his duck-and-cover "turtle mode", he looked at Fallon. "That uh... must be Kiro." He stood up more, spectating that the ships were too far away to have heard the crash, or the exclamation from Kiro. "So what's the deal between halls anyways?" He gestured with a finger to Fallon and the forest behind her. "He doesn't seem to like you out of his immediate line of sight, and was on a warpath to get you back. There are very few people in this world I would level a city, take on a tank and an angry nuke, and blow a bunch of stuff up for." He looked at Fallon's expression And laughed a bit. "No, he didn't level the city, just a building or two. If you could call them that. Say, 'angry nuke' is about the best description I've thought of for Wildfire thus far." He smiled a bit, half laughing at his own so-called wit. Which he knew he had none of, which was why it was so funny.

Fallon saw that Kirito was walking towards them and was actually carrying firewood. He hadn't lied that he had gone to get some. Fallon looked back at Kabel in shock more than surprise at his comment "I don't know exactly. I really don't remember anything before getting to the underground city back there. Everything else is just blank. " She then smiled slightly "Though, if I had to guess, he probably remembers stuff more than I do." Fallon stretched and looked at kirito who was walking up to

Them. He then almost dropped half the wood onto Kabel's head, just missing him by an inch. Instead half fell to the ground at his feet, freaking him out, the rest was still in his hands. Kirito gave a slight smirk and then walked over to a dry piece of land and then started to arrange the wood for a good fire. He then blew on it, fire coming out of his mouth and onto the wood. kirito dusted off his hands and eyed at label and Fallon. "I hope you two got comfortable while I was gone."he said and sat down

Winter walked along the less noticeable trail "Wildfire! come back here!!" she stopped and listened 'no noise.' she kept walking warily when a hand covered her mouth

Wildfire walked along the border stream with the Bear territory. after she cooled off, she circled around back to where she remembered Kabel and Fallon were. entering the clearing by the path she, saw Kirito come back with firewood and nearly drop it on Kabel, bursting out laughing. "oh god. hahaha. ok...... hey, where's Winter?" they stared at her "what? Kabel, where the heck did she go... uh, guys?" she looked at them confused

Fallon looked at her confused "I thought she went to go get you..." She said and her eyes lingered to look at the forest behind her. Fallon then walked to the edge to the forest. "Hey kiro, don't get mad okay." She said. Kirito looked up just in time to see Fallon disappear. His eyes widen in shock and he looked at the spot were Fallon had been. He froze in shock.
Somewhere in the forest Fallon appeared, a good ways away from the others. She looked around for Winter. "Winter?" She called out quietly. No one answered. Fallon sighed and then started to jog, looking around for Winter, calling her name out every so often.

Kabel glared at Kiro after he had regained himself, scowling deeply. Then he looked to Wildfire, glancing between her and where Fallon just was. "'And then there we're two'," he said. "Am I the only one with the feeling that Fallon just got herself lost? Or that we proooobly she look for Winter, considering Kal dropships and... well, ships in general are basically swarming the planet?" He looked up. "Or maybe it's just this part, I don't know. Either way." He looked back down at Kiro, who looked

Particularly displeased. He realized what he had said probably was the the most reassuring, either. He reached up to touch his side, but remembered that Fallon had healed it... mostly. "Should I try to look for them, or would that really play into the whole 'and then there were two' thing?" He didn't like that someone was in this forest with them, tho he thought it was pretty dumb to think they were alone in the first place. He sat down, sighing. He didn't like it when he had to worry about people.

Kirito looked like he wanted to speak when he stopped and sighed "Yeah, you go. I'll stay here and wait for her. It will strengthen our chances if we find both of them." he said and then looked down at the fire, which was slowly dying. Kirito took a stick and moved the wood around, causing the fire to slowly become more lively.

Wildfire looked from Kabel to Kirito after Fallon had left "wait, whaddya mean she went and looked for me? i turned back on myself when the forest got quiet. it was weird. and i should know, i've seen some pretty messed up stuff in my life." she colapsed on the ground in an exasperated heap "ugh. Winter probably got smoked by Monoa. Fallon won't find her. all that will remain will be a circle of trampled leaves." she sat up and looked at the burt trail. "wow, i was really mad wasn't i."

Wildfire stared at it for a while and then got up "Kabel, you go to the opposite side of the clearing. keep walking until you get to an old elm tree. whatever you do, don't go down the hole in the trunk. understand? ok." she paused then sprinted down the path she had made "later!!"

Kirito watched Wildfire sprint off and he looked to Kabel, his eyes slightly arched and his expression clearly stated 'What are you still doing here, get moving or else.' Kirito took a stick from the fire which one end had flames on and started to munch on the flames.

Kabel decided he did not want to see what the "or else" part of the expression he saw on Kiro's face turned out to be, and spun on his heel to get on with it. When he reached the edge of the clearing, he turned around and shouted "if I ain't back by, I dunno, a while, don't come lookin for me cuz you're probly gonna die, aight?" Then spun again to continue on his way. The day was getting older and older, and he really did not want these woods to find him alone at night. If the Kal did weird things to humans, what's else could they have done? We're there any other experiments more... disturbing than just what he and the other side had received? He shuddered, and thought back to the golem carrying the box with Pyro. What were they goin going to do with her? He thought on this for some time, as a sort of way to keep his mind off of that twig that snapped over there, Andy the peculiar groan coming from a bush near an interesting elm tree-- oh. "Oy, winter? Zat you?" He stopped, pooling some stone beneath the dirt in preparation, just in case it was a horrible death Monster loosed by the Layo Kal. "Winter? No? Uh... Fallon? Doom Dog of the Scorched Lands? Nightmare Dragon? ...spider?" He tried not to let his imagination get the best of him, as difficult as it was.

Kirito watched him go and sighed. He quietly continued to eat the flames on his stick until it was gone.

Fallon, on the other hand, had completely forgotten one of her worst weaknesses she had. Fear. For a girl with no memories, she sure could make up one hell of an imagination. Fallon slowed down from a jog to a walk. "Uhhh, winter? You there? " Fallon called out more quietly and then a twig snapped, making her jump and she tried to stay calm but thinking of worse things wasn't helping. She took some deep breaths and continued on. She noticed it was getting darker and darker. The sun had already set and the night was vastly approaching. She felt like the forest was growing so there was no end.

Winter woke up with her hands and feet tied behind her around something 'oh god, my neck's sore.' she tried to talk but was gagged "well, well well. if it isn't my little heart breaker." she stiffened at the voice coming from a corner of where ever she was....

Wildfire stopped, it was pitch black but she didn't dare try to light herself on fire. looking at the gigantic boulders that marked the territory border Wildfire took a breath about to step over the scent mark "i wouldn't do that" a voice cooed from a shadow on the other side

Fallon felted like someone was watching her every move. It was almost completely dark and she could barely see. Fallon then stopped and the darkness brightened just enough around her to be able to see. (So now she's using her darkness manipulate thing. It's like she has a small circle of brighter light around her than moves with her) She then continued to jog, feeling like she had crossed something important

The bush ceased rustling, and a sound like someone having trouble breathing came from it. A rasping, scraping cough. "Uh... is that you, Fallon? You like... dyin or somethin?" He didn't like the sound the bush was making at him. He made the stone seep through the soil a little more, just in case. He bent down to look at the bush, when suddenly a face appeared. Kabel leapt back (more like forcefully fell), letting out a startled yell/shriek which he had a bad habit of doing. The face withdrew, leaving Kabel's mind spinning in circles. Was that a human? No, it couldn't be. Layo Kal? Not likely. Mutant? That's not how mutations work. Haywire experiment? Probably. It had six eyes, two where humans usually had them, and then two more on each side, extending to the right and left. The face lacked any mouth whatsoever, but had six slanted slights (say that five times fast) where the nose should have been. And then when it had withdrew... he shuddered. It had let out a startled squeak, which, theoretically, should not be frightening, but combined with its ungodly traits, it was terrifying. Kabel sat up, breathing rapidly. A tendril of stone reached up, and soon he had a spear and shield. He edged towards the bush, holding the spear out in front, crouching low. "Whoever, whatever you are, come out so I can see you." He poked the bush, and it shook, hissing. He jumped back again, and the face slowly peeked out, blinking it's great black eyes. He now saw it did in fact have a mouth. Actually, it had two: a mouth where it belongs, with slight bumps where the lips should have been, and then one on the top of its head, a small, toothy hole on the top of a slightly squished head. The face squinted at him, frowning. Kabel held up his shield and spear, terrified. "Whatsen whatsen are I it ask, hm, hm?" The thing's voice was raspy, and he spoke with a slight slur. "Yes, what the heck are you?" The thing tilted its head at him, blinking, and then looked at the spear. Suddenly it was back in the bush, which was trembling.

the thing that the voice belonged to stepped out of the corner "hello Winter." Winter glared "heh ho vacka." she tried to spit at his feet. if you could even call it a him. his face was scarred to the point where no one could recognize him, courtesy of the bag of acid Winter had thrown at him the last time he had appeared to her. the boy walked over and undid the gag "i;m sorry what was that?" he snickered and backed up fully aware of all her little tricks "i said hello Maka." this time she was able to spit on his leather shoes. "tsk tsk tsk. Winter you know i like to keep my things pretty" he looked from this shoes to her face /\:|:/\ Wildfire threw a ball of flames towards where she thought the voice came from. it didn't hit the thing but illuminated enough of the surrounding forest to make a bronze and gold pelt shimmer and sparkle in the flames. "oh. hello DeathFire." the gigantic tiger leapt out of the trees above "hello Wildest Fires." he purred stalking around her "what brings you to our jungle territory?" he sat in front of her "you know what Fire. you've been stalking me since the Elms." DeathFire laughed "haha! Wildfire you haven't lost your touch. good. it great to see you again sister." he purred affectionately "how's the gang?" she smiled "they're great last time i saw them. Falcon was right. Elder Crystal was working with the Kal." grimacing at DeathFire "Falcon? i thought her name was...." he stopped and looked behind her. "we must leave." turning on his hind paw he sprinted into the undergrowth as a dart hit the spot where he had been a second before. Wildfire dashed in after her as a shadow got up and stepped out of the underbrush. his wrinkled face smiling, snaggle tooth and all. he made a pillar of stone and shot up into the air
