At the Ending-Edge
Chapter 22
At the edge of the cliff
Where looking forward we see
There is no more path left
And now nowhere to flee
We turn and stare back
Right at the peak of the hill
Where we took our first step
Our first aim, our first will
And right down the steps
Which we walked with our pals
The canyons, the long lanes,
The now gone streams and canals
And over to the now dried river
Where we once sat when tired
Where worries washed away
Where we got our desired!
And all along the wide roads
Bordered with pines and cones
Where we once ate and jumped away
Now covered with large stones
And at last our this ending spot
Where the howling storm comes slow
We praise the steps, river and roads
And wish,"Again to the beginning let me go!"
Where looking forward we see
There is no more path left
And now nowhere to flee
We turn and stare back
Right at the peak of the hill
Where we took our first step
Our first aim, our first will
And right down the steps
Which we walked with our pals
The canyons, the long lanes,
The now gone streams and canals
And over to the now dried river
Where we once sat when tired
Where worries washed away
Where we got our desired!
And all along the wide roads
Bordered with pines and cones
Where we once ate and jumped away
Now covered with large stones
And at last our this ending spot
Where the howling storm comes slow
We praise the steps, river and roads
And wish,"Again to the beginning let me go!"
