Chapter 1
Gumball's POV
It is a cloudy day in the Candy Kingdom today. Its probably going to rain. I hate rain. Whenever it rains my hair becomes very sticky and limp. I leave the window open since the wind feels nice.
"Boo."
"Aaargghhh!", I scream.
I spin around to and at first see nothing but I do hear laughing. I can recognize that laughing from anywhere.
"Show yourself Marshall Lee!", I shout.
Marshall lee appears, hunched over in laughter. I scowl and punch him in the shoulder. Marshall lee finally settles down and smugly smiles.
"I got you pretty good huh.", he says.
I frown.
"How did you even get in here?", I ask, crossing my arms.
"Through the front door. You didn't hear me open it?", he answers, pointing with his thumb at said door.
The doors are extremely tall and are specially made to be noisy when opened. How did I not here that?
"No. I must have spaced out.", I say.
"Pfft. What were you thinking about, a new way to breed candy people?", Marshall lee jokes, smiling.
"No! I was thinking about the weather.", I inform here.
"Of course.", he scoffs.
"Anyways, what are you even doing here?", I ask.
"I just wanted to hang out with you. I was bored.", he replies.
I roll my eyes. Whenever Marshall visited it was usually for something he wants or when he's bored.
"I have errands to do today. Will you like to accompany me?", I ask.
I really would enjoy his company. Usually, whenever I did errands I did them alone.
"It's cloudy so I should be good. Sure.", he accepts.
"Good. I have to go shopping so lets go.", I tell him.
I already have my satchel with me so I don't have to run up to my room to get it.
~~~
At the market I only need to get a few things. Marshall lee is somewhere in the store. I hope he's behaving himself.
"ARRRGHHH!"
I look up from the strawberries I had been observing. I drop the package and run up to where I heard the scream.
"Marshall!", I shout.
He's cowering against a shelf. The sun must have come up while we were in the store. I rush up to him and attempt to cover him with my body from the open window.
"Close the blinds!", I shout to the manager, Mr. CandyApple.
Mr. CandyApple scurries over to the window and pulls the blinds down. I stay in front of Marshall lee. His eye's are still shut in pain. I can see where the sun hit him the most. His arms and the left side of his face are badly burned. He must have flown into the aisle without realizing the sun was up. I had ointment for burns like these but it was at the castle.
"Marshall Lee. Marshall lee!", I cry.
He opens his eyes.
"I'm gonna get you to my castle ok. Just...just hang in there.", I tell him, my voice quavering.
I had only seen him this badly burned once. I knew Marshall Lee had instant healing abilities but if the burns were too big and too serious the power did nothing.
Marshall put on a weak little smile.
"I'll hang in there. I trust you.", he says, his voice barely audible.
He closes his eyes again.
"Do you have any umbrellas?", I ask Mr. CandyApple.
"I do!", a customer calls out.
It's Ms. MintIceCream. She hands me her umbrella, which is mint colored and I open it up. It's the perfect size. I thank her and she smiles. I set the umbrella down and slip my arm and shoulder under Marshall's arm. Mint and CandyApple help me until I am fully holding Marshall up. He is still conscious so he can stand but he is very weak. Mint hands me the umbrella again and we slowly make our way to the door. CandyApple hold the door open. I gulp and look down at Marshall lee, who's head is resting on my shoulder. I can do this. We can do this.
