Chapter Five: Seshuki
Chapter 5
It all seemed hopeless now. I couldn’t find a way of escape, I couldn’t imagine trying to beat this many of them. But when I looked over at Evie, she didn’t reflect my fear. She reflected anger, hatred, a need to kill. She looked hardened. The faint outline of wings glowing like a ghost returned, floating from her back, stretching out, knocking a couple hounds back. They were huge, and right now they looked like they were made of nebulas. Of stars. They looked unreal, and yet completely natural all at the same time. She didn’t open her mouth, and yet her voice boomed, echoed off the mountains, deafened me for a couple of seconds. Her smile became mischievous, evil, bloodthirsty. Her eyes turned red.
“I am your goddess, the goddess Amillya of Allegiance and Madness. How dare you try to take me on. If you even think you have a chance at surviving…” She laughed, a cold, heartless laugh. “... You’ve got another thing coming. Prepare yourselves… for your death!”
At the word “death,” several of the creatures burst into lava, killing their brethren, who died the same way. She reached her hand up, whispering, calling to the stars.
“Come to me, Azeara. Let’s rid the world of this vermin once and for all!” At her command, several stars and nebulas fell from the sky, glowing purple, the same color as her eyes did now. They took a small form, then got bigger and bigger before turning into a large scythe, one that no normal human could even move an inch, much less pick up. And yet, my friend could. Then again, she was no normal human. She was a goddess.
She crouched and turned on her heel, swinging the starry scythe around. It broke up when it would normally hit me, missing me on purpose, but hit the beasts behind me. Soon, only half the army that was there remained. Amillya buckled. She clearly wasn’t at full power, otherwise, she’d kill them all. Instead, she turned tail and ran.
We ran for what felt like miles, a small army of hellhounds following us, led by Rabnahiaem. Up a hill, down the hill, up another, down another. The hellhounds shot large balls of flame at us like a cannon would, spitting them from their evil jaws. They all missed.
“There!” Amillya pointed down below us, at the base of the hill we stood upon. There was a stable with horses. I could only see one that was visible, a large black shire horse drinking from a water trough. She was beautiful.
I didn’t get to think that for long though. A large fireball came out of nowhere, hitting the horse on her rump. Her tail shot up in flames, and she whinnied a panicked, hurt shriek of a neigh. Soon, her mane caught fire too. She jumped into the trough of water, putting out a lot of the fire. Her hair stayed lit. Somehow, in the thrashing, she managed to also burn her hoof feathers and her eyes. But after that, she seemed… peaceful. Like it didn’t hurt her anymore. Like she was actually okay. She was now a nightmare horse. And as I slid down the hill, I recognized her more. She looked almost exactly like one of Akirago’s Fouquet. Like Seshuki, the Hell Steed.
