Chapter 14
Strong hands roughly grabbed my biceps and yank me upward. Hunter and Adria are forced to stand as well. My pack and Ria's satchel are grabbed off the ground by the woman who was just in my face. While Hunter tried to break free of the grip he's held in, Ria and I got a good look of the woman who had captured us. She had magenta-ish hair that reached her waist and curls at the ends. Some of her hair is pulled up in a high ponytail. Dark blue eyes are looking skeptically into our packs, and large elvish ears twitch to every sound around us. Her blue shirt is sleeveless and somewhat ragged at the end. Her dark gray skirt wrapped around her waist and blows softly around her calves in the wind. A single glove is on her right arm, reaching half-way her bicep. She handed her gold staff that looks like a tree branch and has a glowing candle in it to another person beside, who I brush off as unimportant at the moment. She is barefoot, and resting on her shoulder was a small, violet dragon. Its wings were half-folded and it was glaring at us.
"What have we got in here?" She spoke aloud, taunting us as we try to break out of the grip we are in. She opened Ria's satchel first and started ratting around. Her lips are pursed as she pulls out a crossbow and some arrows. The woman looked at the gray crossbow and then tossed it to the side. She does the same with the arrows. She then pulled out a spare set of clothes, which she admires for a moment and then shows off to the dragon on her shoulder, who sniffs in disapproval. The woman gave it a look and tossed the clothes off the same side she did for the crossbow. She continued to pull out other things, like some bread, hair things, a hairbrush, and a couple other things that Ria does not like. She growled angrily at the girl as she keeps ratting around in the satchel.
"Now, let's see what's in this.. satchel thing," the woman spoke. I struggled to break free from the strong grip I was in. What if she found the dim-jumper and knew what it was? Beside me, Hunter and Ria were shouting insults at everyone. The girl reached in and grabbed something. Her left eyebrow raised, and she pulled out my doll. Adria fell silent for a second before continuing to shout insults. The girl held up the doll to the dragon perched on her shoulder, and the violet creature sniffed it. It snorted and nodded at her.
"So I was right. It's a dim-jumper. These are very hard to come by, you know," she spoke, looking at the three of us. "I do wonder how you got ahold of this." She paused, then laughed. "You can't break out of their grip. They're Yuila. They're stronger than anything in this dimension." She said Yulia as you-e-la, and I tried to turn around to see what these Yuila looked like. I couldn't see them, no matter how hard I tried.
"Who are you? Why are you doing this to us?!" Ria snarled at the girl angrily.
"Oh, silly me. I forgot my manners. I'm Tamira. I'm 'doing this' to you because you stepped into my territory, and it's known for taking prisoners into their hands." Tamira chuckled and smirked at us. "Those prisoners are rarely seen again. They should all the consequence of making the mistake of tempting me." Tamira locked eyes with me, and she gasped. She dropped my backpack and walked closer to me. She gently grabbed my chin and turned my face side to side, as if inspecting me. I growled and went to punch her, but my hand was stopped. The Yuila holding me had caught my wrist and held it tightly. Tamira scowled at me, but then smiled.
"You're Lyra, aren't you. Don't ask how I know, you should know that everyone knows the prophecy by now." Tamira smirked. "You know, we could work together. It's said that this Lyra, which is you, has great potential. I could use some of that." She smiled somewhat kindly at me. But I saw through her facade. It was a trap.
"Never." I retorted, and spat at her. It landed on her cheek, and she grimaced, wiping the spit off with her gloved hand.
"Oh! How dare you! You all shall be executed tomorrow. Yuila, follow me! Servants, take this pack and the satchel," She commanded. I was lifted up so that my feet weren't touching the ground anymore and I cried out as the ground got a little farther away. Hunter and Ria had the same done to them. Ria swore loudly at Tamira and everyone else, but mostly Tamira. I gave up trying to make anyone falter. It was obvious; there was no getting out of this.
