Chapter 12
Hunter said nothing when he came over and grabbed my arm. He paused when I said wait, and let me put my pack back on. He dragged me out the door, and out the door past the guard. When we reached the edge of the island, we jumped. We continued jumping from island, and I was surprisingly getting better. I wasn't having to brace myself anymore, it just became second nature. After a couple jumps, we reached Adria's place. We entered the doors and walked up the stairs to her house.
"Ria!" Hunter called loudly when we reached the top. "Yeah?" I heard her call from her bathroom. We walked toward the bathroom, and I was surprised at her look when she turned around. Her maroon colored hair was in a braid that curled around her neck and rested on her right shoulder. Her black tank top hugged her body, complementing her curves. Her jeans were navy blue, and she had on purple tennis shoes with orange laces. Her eyes seemed to glitter as she looked up and down us. "Y'all look like you just rose up from the dead." she commented. Hunter stuck his tongue out. "Did you get the necklace? Were ya successful?" she asked hopefully. I opened my palm and showed her the sun. She grinned.
"She also gave us an easy way to travel between each world." Hunter commented. We both looked at him. He took in a breath. "Talyn took the doll you gave Lyra and enchanted it to be our dim-jumper." Ria nodded, but I was so confused. However, Ria beat me to talking. "And she.. didn't get in trouble?" "Obviously not, Ria, otherwise she wouldn't be here with the necklace in her hand." Hunter rolled his eyes. "All right, dummy, enough of the attitude. You sure you got everything?"
"Okay, I hate to interrupt, but I'm never going to get a chance to ask unless I do. What the heck is a dim-jumper? Is what Talyn did to the doll how it become this.. thing I've never heard of?" I asked. They both turned to me, and I placed my hands on my hips as I realized that they basically forgot I had no clue what the heck they were talking about. Adria turned to Hunter. "I'm leaving this to you, I'm gonna make sure I have everything." She turned and basically ran into her room as Hunter tried to protest. He sighed in defeat after a moment. He turned to me and explained.
"A dim-jumper is a term for dimensional jumper. It can turn into a portal and, if you do it right, it can send you to where you want it to go. Dim-jumping is dimensional jumping, what you do when you get into that portal. What Talyn did when she put the forehead on hers and chanted was making a dim-jumper. Luckily, you're with people who know how to work a dim-jumper." He struck a pose and did jazz hands. I laughed.
"All we gotta do is wait for-" He was cut off by Ria coming out of her room with a brown satchel across her shoulders.
"I'm ready when you guys are." She spoke. Hunter chuckled, and then turned to me. "Can I have your doll?" I nodded, then got it out and handed it to him. Adria came to my right side, while Hunter stood on my left. They both stared chanting while holding up the doll.
"Altila Yumja Tajai Agyt Ratyn," they repeated over and over. Eventually, the doll started to glow. Adria and Hunter took my hands and let go of the doll. The doll hovered, then transformed into the portal that Hunter had dragged me into the second time I saw him. The white swirled around the lavender. Adria let go of my hand, and turned to face us. She smirked, then turned toward the 'dim-jumper.' She dove in with a battle cry. The portal swallowed her up, then Hunter let go and jumped in. Before he did so, he turned to me, and offered a hand. I cautiously took it, and he pulled into the portal, and we started the journey to another world again.
