"Come ON, mummy!" Kiara shouted excitedly, as her mother chased her around the playground.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Her mother shouted back, her beautiful hazel eyes twinkling with adoration for her daughter.
As Kiara reached the edge of the playground, she quickly dove behind a bush, in the split second that left her out of her mother's sight.
"Kiara? Kiara! This isn't funny." Mummy had warned. As Kiara sighed and crawled out of her hiding spot, blaring sirens went off. They had been placed on every few streetlights, in case of a global issue.
"THIS IS NOT A DRILL, I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A DRILL. EVERYONE IS TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMES IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A-" The sound was replaced by coughing and choking, and a shriek of agony.
"Kiara, quickly. We need to get home, right now." While she was still crawling out from under the bush, Kiara's mother grabbed her arms and hauled her out, and even with now scraped knees, they sprinted the three blocks home, where Kiara's eighteen-year-old sister, Maddy, laid passed out on the sofa, her skin pale compared to her normally olive complexion, and beads of sweat dripping down her forehead.
Suddenly, Maddy opened her eyes, and shrieked out, in a voice so morbid and deranged, the sound still haunted Kiara's ears.
"This is the last time humanity shall win. The last!" With that, she slumped back against sofa, her heart exploding with a black poison, which would leak from eyelids until her body was shrivelled from lack of fluids...
