Journey To Hogwarts
Chapter 3
We had to find out how to get to Hogwarts as well. Kings Cross, Platform 9 and 3/4. I was so confused, I was starting to panic, and Porr started screeching like mad. I got some pretty weird looks. Eventually, a girl cvalled Sofia showed me. You have to run, headlong, into the wall that separates platform 9 and platform 10. I thought she must be kidding, but then she showed me. And on the other side was platform 9 and 3/4r. So I got on the old-fashioned red train- the Hogwarts Express. When I came inside, I sat in a compartment with three other girls from the year above- Claire, Teagan, and the girl from the platform, Sofia.
When the train arrived, we came to a grand entrance hall, where we were greeted by Hogwarts deputy headteacher, Professor Nivera. Then we climbed the stairs to the great hall. There were four long tables, and at the front, the teachers sat, with the headteacher, professor Balog, at the centre. He greeted us, telling us about the giant squid and the Forbidden forest. Then we all had to sing (which was awkward and embarrassing). Then we were called up, one by one, to put on the Sorting Hat. Luckily, as an Evans, I didn't have to wait long.
I stepped up to put on the hat. I could feel everybody watching me.
Silence.
Then:
"Hmm, tricky. Definitely not a gryffindor- though you do feel as if you are brave at times, you hardly have the heart of a lion. Ravenclaw, maybe? You are a good learner, and you come across as arrogant more often than you realise... But what do you think?"
"What?"
"What house do you think you are in?"
"Umm... what were the other houses?"
"Hufflepuff. And slytherin."
"What about slytherin?"
"I doubt you're a slytherin. Ambitious, yes, but your selfishness is not your biggest weakness. Besides, you couldn't be cunning if you tried, which I know you do... Do you consider yourself to be loyal?"
"Oh, yes, I try to be as loyal as I can to my friends. But sometimes I let them down."
"Would you say you are naive?"
"Well, I don't live in a bubble, but I am pretty gullible. I'll believe anything you tell me."
"Which house would you like to go into?"
"I get a choice?"
"I always take your choice into account."
"Well, then... I guess... hufflepuff."
"It seems, then, that we have a... HUFFLEPUFF!!" The Sorting Hat roared my choice to the Hall. The table on the far right of me started cheering. I walked over to people happily welcoming me and clapping me on the back cheerfully. Yes, I definitely chose the right house. Then the headmaster concluded his speech, and an array of delicious food appeared on the empty plates, out of nowhere!
I have to go to bed now, cos classes start tomorrow, but next time, I'll talk more about the rest of the evening!
