Sorting Seperation
Chapter 5
After a very eventual night, Mrs. Weasley ordered everyone to brush their teeth and go straight to bed. Of course for Brice, and Charlie the second part of her request never happened. After brushing their teeth in the bathroom at the end of the third story hall, they sat back down in their bean bags. As soon as they had sat down, Bill burst in excitedly. He pulled up a chair from Charlie's desk and leaned forward. The anticipation and suspense was very high at this point. Bill and Charlie had been waiting all day to hear Brice's final decision on his owls name.
"After hours of contemplation, I have finally found a name for this guy in an old book." He said as he nuzzled the bird with his finger. "It means Huntsman in Greek and I found it only fitting because of the way owls hunt their prey... Plus I thought the name was pretty awesome too," He laughed. "Bill, Charlie, say hello to Theron the Barn Owl."
Theron cocked his head at Brice, and he repeated himself.
"Theron, that's you!" He said pointing at the owl.
Theron hooted understandingly and then ruffled his feathers, got comfortable, and closed his eyes.
"Theron... I like it." Smiled Bill, "But if the birds sleeping then I should probably hit the hay too, Night guys!"
Bill left their room and then it was just Brice and Charlie again. They chatted about quidditch and made rosters of their dream team. Halfway through an argument over whether the Wimbourne Wasps or the Falmouth Falcons were the better team, Mrs. Weasley burst into the room. She silenced them very angrily and stated that if either of them spoke a word the rest of the night she would personally lock them in the attic with the goul. The boys got in their beds quickly and didn't share a peep the rest of the night.
The next week flew by for Brice and before he knew it he, his trunk, and Theron were boarding the Hogwarts express, accompanied by the redhead family he now called his own. Bill entered a compartment with all of his friends and Charlie and Brice wandered the train looking for an empty compartment. When they got to the end of the train there was a compartment with two young looking girls. Charlie shrugged and entered the compartment.
"May we sit here?" He asked politely.
"Fancy are we?" Said a girl with long golden hair.
Charlie let a grin spread across his face and sat down. Brice followed and the girl on the left stood up.
"Hello." She said in a serene voice. "My name is Aria." She had silky hair that was in icy white. She had gorgeous green eyes and pale skin.
Brice thought she was very pretty but he stayed silent.
"My name is Tonks and uh yeah." Said the other girl
Brice could have sworn her hair wasn't blue earlier.
"Come on, show them what you can do!" Persisted Aria
Tonks then transformed into a boy with messy brown hair. He had freckles across his face and light grey eyes. He wasnt big or tall in any way and had large ears. He was strangely wearing the same thing as Brice. Brice jumped in surprise and Tonks turned herself again, this time with deep green hair.
"A metamorphmagus." Charlie whispered
Thoughts were running wild in Brice's mind. He hadn't seen himself in years. He had subconsciously avoided mirrors, and seeing himself again put him on edge.
"Could-could you turn into me again?" He asked quietly
Once again Tonks turned into Brice, and he gazed transfixed at her. He walked slowly around her and then laughed. "I guess that's why Mrs. Weasley was trying to stuff me with so much food, cause I'm so tiny!"
"Naw mate, your not that short. Maybe a bit on the slim side, but your at least five feet." said Charlie
Tonks turned back into herself and they spent the rest of the train ride talking about the sorting, and comparing wands. At one point Tonks accidentally waved her wand and a bight light shot out of the end and shattered the window. After getting a prefect to fix it, the kept their wands in their trunks.
After crossing the Great Lake with a very familiar Hagrid, Brice, Charlie, Tonks, and Aria marveled at the giant castle. A tall witch opened the big wooden doors and the first year students followed her in. Once inside they walked up a large set of stairs, down a short hall, and into an enormous, noisy room. They followed her inbetween two long tables and off to the side of a three legged stool with a old hat atop it.
"When I call your name, you will take a seat on the stool and put the hat on." Said the witch. She then shouted, "Dona Acker!"
The the brunette girl took a seat, and the hat cried out "Hufflepuff!" And she took a seat at the long table with cheering students wearing yellow and black.
"Owen Churchill!" Shouted the witch.
The round face boy sat down and got sorted into Ravenclaw. Next was Alyson Fitzpatrick and Gavin Fry also sorted into Ravenclaw. Valentina Gomez was sorted into Gryffindor, and Judith Irwin into Slytherin.
A couple other names went by before "Aria Malfoy." Got called up. The hat took about 30 seconds before yelling, "Slytherin!" Aria walked, smiling to the table of green and silver. Once again Brice zoned out until a name caught his attention, "Nymphadora Tonks!" He watched as his friend, now with platinum hair walked clumsily to the chair, and sat down. As soon as the hat touched her head it screamed "Hufflepuff!" As she walked towards the long Hufflepuff table, her hair turned bright yellow, with black streaks, matching the house colors.
Not too long after Tonk's name was called, the witch shouted "Brice Weasley!" Brice walked quickly to the stool, sat down, and placed the hat on his head. The hat slid down past his chin, before it started talking to him. "Hmmmmmm." It said, "Fairly brave I see, for the most part very loyal, some ambition, but ahhhh your greatest trait of all, your mind, yes a very good mind." Brice felt confused, he had never considered himself to have a good mind, but his thoughts got interrupted by, "Ravenclaw!" Brice had barely taken his seat before he saw Charlie take a seat, and get sorted into Gryffindor.
Brice felt a pang of sadness as he looked across the great hall and saw his three friends, all in different houses. After an exquisite feast, Dumbledore sent them off to bed, and the Ravenclaw's followed their Prefects to the Ravenclaw common room. Brice looked back one more time to see each of his friends heading a different direction.
