Chapter 3: Broomsticks
Chapter 3
One of the key items to being a seeker is a fast broomstick. Without one, it wouldn't be a good idea for you to be a seeker. We've researched many brooms and have narrowed it down to these three.
Firebolt
The Firebolt would be the best broom if you were a seeker, because it is the fastest broom ever. This broom can go 150 mph in ten seconds. Compare that to the old Nimbus series! They are made in small quantities due to the fact that with goblin workers, even the smallest provocation causes them to go on strike or worse. Another upside is that it has an unbreakable braking charm, so that it isn't a problem when you have to stop gameplay. When purchasing a Firebolt, request hazel twins in the tail, for hazel twigs gives the broom more precision in turning. The iron was fashioned by goblins giving it more speed, precision, and ability to play better, as well as having the handle being made of polished ebony. With all of these irresistible features, who wouldn't want to buy a Firebolt?
Nimbus 2001
The Nimbus 2001 would be the second ideal choice for a seeker when trying to find the right broomstick for you. Even thought the Firebolt is the fastest broom ever as of right now, many professional quidditch teams still use this broom. The broom has gold or silver stirrups, depending on the buyers preference, and the stirrups are made so that you can have your feet in many positions rather than just one. Reaching high speeds, the Nimbus 2000 can out fly it, as seen in the second movie, but that is most likely due to the fact that Harry is a better flyer than Malfoy. It was made in 1992 by the Nimbus Broom Racing Company, and was an improved version of the Nimbus 2000. With black paint and golden lettering on it, the Nimbus 2001 was a very popular broom for those who looked for style in a broom.
Nimbus 2000
The Nimbus 2000 was made by the Nimbus Broom Racing Company as well, though not as fast as the previous two. With a mahogany handle, it can reach high speeds, but it was proved destructible in Potters third year when it was destroyed by the Whomping Willow. It has golden lettering on the handle and the twigs in the tail are bonded together in a sleek manner. It can be faster than the newer, Nimbus 2001, under certain circumstances. For example, Harry beat Malfoy on his Nimbus 2000 and Malfoy was on a Nimbus 2001, but that was because Harry had more skill than Malfoy. Manufactured in 1991, it was the fastest broom ever until the release of its predecessor, the Nimbus 2001. This broom is recommended for flyers who are just starting to ride fast brooms.
As you can see, all three of these brooms are fast, but even if it is a Firebolt against a Nimbus 2001, it all comes down to who is the better flyer. If you are very good, you don't need to depend on your broom. If you aren't the best quidditch player, you can't depend on the speed of your broom to win you the game.
