Chapter 1: How to Play
Chapter 1
Many players reading this will probably know how to play, but if you haven't, its about time you learned. There are seven different places on a team, three different types of balls, and many rules. The first thing you need to know is that the game is played on broomsticks. There are three chasers on a team. They use the quaffle, a big round ball like a basketball, and try to get it through one of the three goal posts, each varying in size. Each time the quaffle goes through one of the hoops, you earn ten point for your team. The keeper, guards the goalposts, and makes sure that the quaffle doesn't get in. They usually are the biggest players on the team. There are two beaters on each team. Those two are in charge of whacking the bludgers towards the other team with their bats. The bludgers fly around trying to unseat the players off of their broomsticks. The final position is the seeker, the most agile, nimble, and smallest of the players. They try to catch the golden snitch, a walnut sized ball that is wicked fast. Once you catch the golden snitch, the team who caught it earns an extra 150 points and the game ends. It is possible for the team who catches the snitch to lose. In the Quidditch World Cup, Bulgaria caught the snitch, but Ireland still had more points so they won.
