Beware the knowledge thou seek : Introduction

Chapter 1
"Beware the knowledge thou seek, for knowledge though oft light, can sow the seeds of night and reap from the darkness that ensues"

- Esmerelda Jane Forstine, 1654

Transfiguration, in its simplest form, is an art that cannot be simplified. This textbook has been devised by the Head of Transfiguration at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Henrick Darkstorm, to assist in the development of your Transfigurative knowledge. You are expected to know the content of these pages along with the knowledge of the prescribed textbook. Collectively, and with the teachings of Professor Darkstorm, they provide the guidance and structure to learning the Transfigurative arts.

Please be aware, this book is enchanted with anti-marking hexes. Any attempt to damage the pages will result in pain for you. You have been warned.

Please Note: In this course textbook, you will find reference to ‘magical fields’. A magical field refers to the magical energy in the area surrounding the spell and the area in which the spell appears and is performed. The size of the Magical Field alters drastically depending on the skill, ability and confidence of the wizard and/or witch in question. Magical fields are found in every aspect of magic and not specifically Transfiguration, and thus refers to the collective energy.
