LESSON #7: FIRE CRABS AND WEREWOLF BITES
Chapter 7
.FIRE CRABS:
-category: beast
-classification: XXX (competend wizards should cope)
-resembles: large tortoise
-shell: grey-green, covered in jewels
-can be determined by the jewels on its shell
-jewels include rubies, emeralds and sapphires
-description: grey skin and black eyes
-native to Fiji
-protected species
-an entire section of a Fiji beach has been turned into a reservation for these creatures
-must be protected from MUGGLES, WIZARDS AND WITCHES (muggles=great value in shell/wizards and witches=prized cauldron)
-can be sold and exported as PETS (you must obtain a special license)
-when they're attacked, they shoot flames out of their rear ends in defence
.SAFETY MEASURES:
-wear dragonhide gloves
-do not wear loose clothing
-do not make any sudden movements
-do not stand behind the creatures
-stay as close to its front as you can get
-always have your wand of hand, but in a safe place
-can use a weak Knockback Jinx (to push it away to prevent yourself from being harmed)
-be sure to make the spell weak
-a more advanced wizard can use a water spell to prevent the flames from harming them
.FUN FACT:
-Rubeus Hagrid once bred a fire crab with a Manticore
-result: Blast-Ended Skrewt, an extremely dangerous creature when fully grown
.WEREWOLVES:
-a real threat to humans
-less likely to attack an animal
-avoid aa werewolf during their transformation
-no cure for being a werewolf, you can only treat the wound if you get bitten
.STEPS TO AVOID INFECTION:
-get to a safe place to clean the wound
-rinse the wound under cool water for 2 minutes
-wash the bite with soap for 5 minutes
-let it air dry
-apply an antibacterial potion and let dry
-apply a healing potion (Essence of Dittany)
-cover the wound with an appropiately sized bandage
-change the bandage and apply more salve every 4 hours
-a potion to help with pain may be used

-feverish skin around the bite
-dark red skin around the bite
-pus draining from the bite
-abnormal swelling that does not go down
