Lesson #3: DARK ARTS, BOOGIES AND KNOCKBACKS
Chapter 3
.Dark Arts:
-refer to any magic that is used to cause harm
-in the form of spells, potions or even breeding dark creatures
-the main effect it has on the individual pracicing it s thought to be on their soul
-using Dark Magic, especially for murder, is thought to rip apart the user's soul
.The Law and Dark Arts:
-there are no laws which make them illegal (exception: Unforgivable Curses)
-Dark Magic have been encouraged when dueling with the enemies (because it's a very powerful magic)
-from 1997-1998, everything to do with Dark Arts was legal and taught at Hogwarts by a Death Eater (the Ministry was ruled by Lord Voldemort)
-the use of the three Unforgivable Curses will result being sent to a life long stay in Azkaban Prison
-dark spells are defined as any spell that affects the target in a negative matter
-sells of these nature result discomfort, pain or even death
a)JINX:
-lowest form of a Dark Spell
-not cause much harm
-used for practical jokes
-described as irritating, but amusing
-can be prevented by placing an Anti-Jinx spell around yourself/an object
-can be removed with a Counter-Jinx
-example: Knockback Jinx
b)HEX:
-darker than the Jinx
-cause moderate discomfort
-seen as major inconvenience
-can be reversed with the use of a Hex Breaker, which reverse the effect of the spell
-example: Bat-Bogey Hex (the Hex causes bogeys to turn into bats and fly out of the target's nose)
c)CURSES:
-the darkest and most of extreme
-cause the recipient extreme discomfort and/or pain
-long-lasting and can result in death
-can block a curse by using protective charms
-can also be lifted by using a counter-curse
-lifting a curse will not remove any damage done prior to the removal, it will only prevent further damage from being done
-example: Curse of the Bogeys
.Curse of Boogies:
-cause the target to develop an extreme cold
-the target will be stuch with an extremely runny nose until the curse is lifted
-it would cause them to collapse
-this may not be deadly, it is still serious
-incantation: Mucus ad Nauseam (MYOO-kus ahd NOU-see-um)
-movement: point your wand in front of you>bring the wand down towards your left side and out>curve it up and to the right going outwards slightly>being it to where you originally started (resembles drawing a rain drop)
.Knockback Jinx:
-repels or pushes back whatever the target may be
-if the object is fragile it may be blasted apart
-in a duel use it with caution
-can easily be sent back with Disarming Charm/Shield Charm
-incantation: Flipendo (fli-PEN-doh)
-movement: slash your wand down to the right>bring it up diagonally to the right>end with a wave
-succesful: blue light shoot out at your target
.Knockback Jinx Duo:
-more powerful than the original
-alsmo more harmful
-throws the enemy long distances in the shower of blue sparks thast will apear
-multiple castings of this spell in a row can cause small whirlwind
-incantation: Flipendo Duo
-movemet: a simple slash
