· Nocturnal flowering herb

· Mostly used in meals

· Not many magical properties

Fern Flower

· Slavic flowering plant

· Dark magical energy in plant (very evil)

· Brings luck, wealth, and ability to converse in the tongues of animals

Gillyweed

· Saltwater plant

· Moderately alkaline soil

· Used for nourishment, and to breathe underwater

Gurdyroot

· Perennial herb

· Neutral soil

· Wards off minor dark creatures, possibly minor dark magic

Knotgrass

· Flowering herb

· Neutral soil

· Tying/bonding together

Lily

· Non-magical flowering plant

· Great for the heart

· Interacts well with magic

Lotus tree

· Magical tree

· In the Book of Job (and other muggle literature)

· Causes forgetfulness

Mandrake

· Dangerous plant

· First aid: tandisu injection

· Revives those who are petrified

Moly

· Magical flowering herb

· In Homer's Odyssey

· Used in antidotes

Moonflower

· Nocturnal flowering herb

· Toxic

· Illegal to trade and sell

Night-flowering Catchfly

· Nocturnal winter perennial

· Soothes those who have terminal illness/are dying

· Invasive plant

Night Gladiolus

· Nocturnal Bulb

· Attracts birds

· Aids with congestion problems and may be used with pregnant woman

Raskovnik

· Slavic magical herb

· Unlocks doors and uncovers treasure

· Difficult to find

Rat Root

· Perennial

· pH level 6.1 to 7.5

· Pain reliever, used in love potions

Shrivelfig

· Fruit

· High in nutrients

· Requires pruning

Valerian Root

· Flowering herb

· Strongly acidic soil

· Sedative

Venomous Tentacula

· Dangerous plant (seeds Class C untradeable)

· Causes feeling of insides burning

· Called Tentaculum in muggle literature

Wormwood

· Flowering plant

· Neutral soil

· Wormwood is very important. See note.

Note Wormwood may be used to induce sweating, stimulate imagination, increase hunger, settle stomach, reduce pain, treat fevers, gall bladder disease, and liver disease.

You will also recall that Acidious revealious (ah-sid-EE-us rev-EE-lee-us) will reveal the pH level of the soil by forming a number in white mist. Diffindo (deef-IN-doe) is used to stun Venomous Tentacula.
