THE 4 SACRED MEDICINES - a. CEDAR : North, Winter, White

Chapter 52
The Cedar is used for purification of spirit. Herbologists often had patients take baths in water with cedar, or added cedar to sage teas to cleanse visitors of many infections. Today, cedar is still used in many potions for curing infectious diseases. Aboriginal people use cedar in religious ceremonies, such as during fasting and in sweat lodges. Herbologists provided cedar for people to put together a circle of the herb during times of fasting, and covered the floors of sweat lodges with the branches. Cedar was also commonly used to treat people going through periods of spiritual darkness, although the tradition has not carried on with Herbology today.
