Willow (Saille) - April 15 to May 12 (Celtic Calendar) : Wand Woods

Chapter 20
Willow trees (Salix saliceae) are a deciduous tree found in moist soil in cold to moderate climates of the northern hemisphere. They prefer still, settled water and can be planted in any type of soil. They thrive in areas with a lot of rain. There are about 400 different species. Their bark is watery, soft, pliable and tough with slender elongated serrated leaves. The leaves are elongated, green on the upper side and whitish on the bottom side. The flowers are elongated and are produced in early spring before the leaves bud. These trees can grow to 12 meters tall. I'm sure all of you are aware of the Whomping Willow here on the grounds!

Willow as wands are useful for Charms and Healing. There is an old proverb that says 'He who has the farthest to travel will go fastest with Willow'. Its ideal owner is one who has great potential.
