It's a Kind of Magic(Tools and Brewing)
Chapter 3
Cauldrons:
-Made of various materials and come in many sizes
-Materials used defer in different countries
-In Great Britain, the most common materials used are: Pewter, Brass and Copper
-On some rare occasions, materials such as Gold and Silver and fire crab shells have been used too
====================
(i)Pewter:
-Best for beginners
-Slowest and cheapest cauldron
-All Hogwarts students should have a Pewter Size 2 Cauldron
====================
(ii)Brass:
-Brews potions at a medium level speed
-Slightly more expensive than Pewter
-Approx.10% faster than Pewter
====================
(iii)Copper:
-Fastest brewing Cauldron
-Approx. 10% faster than Pewter
====================
(iv)Silver:
-Best cauldron material to use
-The effects of potions brewed in silver, especiialy with certain phases of the Moon, tend to be heightened and also have a longer shell life
====================
(v)Other important equipment:
Mortal and pestle: Ingredients must be crushed to a fine(sometimes into dust) or ground into a smooth paste
Set of scales, measuring cup,ruler: Measure your ingredients
Cutting Board: Cutting ingredients cleanly
Cauldron Cleaner:Clean it(cauldron) thoroughly after bottling potion
====================
(vi)Stuff you should know:
-During the brewing process, you should actually stir with your wand(However do NOT stick your wand into the potion)
-A well-ordered station is more efficient than an unruly one
*Clean ALL of the tools between use to prevent contamination
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brewing Process:
-It is very important to follow directions when brewing a Potion
-Inexperienced potioneers can cause nasty effects on themselves and others if they do not take the proper precautions
-Some ingredients can only show their full potential during certain moon phases or other celestial alignments
-Magical objects and magical energy from Wizards and Witches can affect brewing and the effects of the potion
-Ingredients must be placed in the correct order; Or else the intended reactions will not take place
====================
(i)Stirring:
-As mentioned above do NOT stick your wand directly into the potion when brewing as it will DEFINITELY do wonders to your wand
-Hold your wand OVER the cauldron and move your wand in slow steady circles(either in clockwise or counter-clockwise/anti-clockwise direction)
====================
(ii)Brewing times:
-Potion brew time=Total amount of time
-Estimate Brew Time(EBT)=Active time you spend brewing
-Total Brew Time(TBT)=How long a potion can be stored
====================
(iii)Storage:
-Glass or crystal phials are the most common storing mechanisms used for potion storage
-Label each phial clearly with the name of the potion, effect, ingredient, date brewed, expiration date, usage, and warnings about allergies or side effects(If any)
Noteļ¼
PM me your reviews and possible suggestions(if you have any)^_^,like how to improve it etc. :P
XP Yes I felt the need to add a sarcastic remark XD
