Being Bitten
Chapter 1
Ignore my pen-name, it is simply my Editor who is a student on this website. I was once a normal person. I lived in the small town of Yorkshire, England. The town was being ravaged by wolves. We thought they were ordinary! They never did anything remarkably clever, just stole our sheep. The village elders were the second to realize that the wolf attacks only happened at the time of the full moon. I, of course, was the first. They attempted to stop the attacks by simple chants and lining doors with silver. There was no silver lining to the attacks though. An entire family was eaten one night AFTER the doors were lined with silver. The only explanation was, that the wolves were either ghost wolves, and did not need to break windows, or the wolf was someone inside the house.
My small family of five was incredibly paranoid. I was the oldest kid in the family, and I was only fourteen and in my third year at Hogwarts. My father only had a two-year education and my mother was a Muggle-Born with a five-year education. My two younger siblings were twins. Mandie and James, both in Hufflepuff for their first year. It was summer during these particular attacks. Next year, Mandie and James would be starting second-year and I would be starting fifth, just to give you a sort of idea of the time.
All the village children cowered indoors despite the fact that it was the most beautiful summer I'd ever seen. Mandie, James and I were often the only people outdoors at all. Then one day, we stayed out to late and the moon rose before we could get home. We could hear howls coming from the village and from the hills near it. We quickly climbed a tree as fast as possible. We managed to get to the Big Oak in the middle of town. We watched as werewolves busted out of the homes. My siblings and I made a silent pact to remember every house the werewolves came from. A werewolf came from every single house except ours. The wolves gathered around our home and Mandie let out a whimper of fear.
The wolves' ears perked up and their noses started twitching undoubtedly sniffing us out. They walked on all fours over to the tree and scratched at it seeming to think Mandie's gasp had been a squirrel. At that moment, James and Mandie climbed higher in the tree noiselessly, except when James snapped one twig, which fell onto the werewolf's head. It looked up and its black, beady eyes looked up into the tree. I stood, well sat, absolutely still. But in my gray school uniform, I stood out. The wolf pretended to walk away and then got a running start and jumped up into the tree.
It had not seen my siblings, and for that I was grateful. The wolf crept closer, and closer. His jaws opened wide and he lunged at my neck. His jaws clenched around my neck and I screamed in pain. I lost all my usual senses. My screams could have resounded all the way to London. The pain of my bones cracking and splitting was more than I could bear. I went unconscious, and when I awoke, I was laying in the middle of my house surround by other unconscious figures. James and Mandie looked at me from the tree in a look of utter horror and disgust.
