Black out
Chapter 9
I can’t see anything. Wherever I look around, it’s all black. I’m conscious, but everything else went to a halt. I can feel the heat, swelling up inside me. I can feel anger swerving up my veins. I can feel the flames touching the tips of my fingers.
Wait? Flames? Yes, flames are touching the tips of my fingers. It’s hot around them, but I don’t burn, I don’t feel any pang of pain, I loved it in fact- it’s warmth, it’s strength, it was like my whole soul was tied to it and depended on it. And now, I know that something is wrong.
I shouldn’t be liking it, I should have felt pain, I shouldn’t be doing this. Again. It’s happening again. I did it again. I lost my temper. No... THIS.CAN’T.BE. I cried as I tried to tear myself up from the sensation. I tried with all my might, to stop it. I- I CAN’T. I’m WEAK. I-I promised it would never happen again- the thing that took away the lives of many innocent families back in the country, back in the mainland, back when I was only seven years old. They all died- because of ME. Because of this, the curse, the flames, the darkness that lives inside of me! I’m a MONSTER!
Oh where could mother be? What could they be doing now? I can still feel the flames circling my fingers, I-I cannot control it, I cannot- Hide yourselves, Save yourselves! I tried, mother- I really did. I tried, I tried...
IT...MUST... STOP....

“You cannot hide from us.”
I can hear their voices.
“Kill, Alexandria, Kill. Kill, unleash the whole potential that lives inside of you. No more shall you be put in hiding, no more should you feel outcasted, follow your heart. Follow our voices....”
“NO! I will not follow you! Leave me alone!”
“But you cannot escape us Alexa! You cannot... We live inside you... the parasites to your soul... the deepest darkest part of you... you cannot let us go.... you cannot make us leave... because you are... too weak to do it... you cannot...”
“Yes, I can. I can. Go away, leave me, whoever you are. Leave me alone.”
“You can never win... We will stay inside you... no matter what you do... we will always be here.... in your soul.... It doesn’t matter if you succeed now... we will always come back... we will eat you alive... together with your family... you can never escape us... Never... Never... We control you....”
“NO! LEAVE ME AT ONCE!”
The darkness faded, the light came. A soft hand was caressing my head, weaving it’s way through the heavy locks of my hair.
“It’s okay now, Alexa. Everything’s alright.”
The same dark haired woman and blue soulful eyes met mine. “Mother...”
I sat up, I was lying on the couch, and looked down. My hands were wounded, burned even. But the surroundings were not. I looked back to my mom and my dad standing behind her.
“It’s safe now dear.”
I stared at her. She was smiling at me with the greatest ease as if nothing happened, but I’m not easily deceived. Blood was dripping everywhere from her shoulders down to her arms. I can feel the hot liquids pouring down from my eyes.
“I-I did it again, didn’t I? I lost control? I- I-”
“Ssshhh, darling.” She said, pulling me into a hug. “I’m sorry mother.” I can’t stop myself from crying. I- I did it again, and now I’ve hurt my loved ones – my mother even.
“I didn’t mean to mother. I didn’t mean to.” I rubbed my eyes, disgusted with myself. How could I possibly not control myself? Why did I need to lash out like that? Now see what happens! I’ve hit my mother! I’ve hit her! Stupid, stupid, stupid, Alexa! Stupid, stupid me!”
“Now dear, don’t, don’t... oh, please Alexa, don’t hurt yourself like that. Stop... Alexa! Stop pulling your hair! For God’s sake child, please stop hitting yourself. It isn’t your fault- No, Alexa, look at me, it wasn’t your fault. You were only out of control- Alexa!”
“But I hurt you mother! Though I don’t mean to- I swear.”
“Of course, it was never your fault child. Never your fault. It wasn’t. It never was. Now please stop hurting yourself.”
She embraced me into a tight hug. I tried to move, but my arms were stiff and trapped, trapped onto hers.
“It isn’t your fault, my darling. I understand what you’re going through baby, and we’ll always be here for you, no matter what. Mom loves you, and dad does as well, so stop thinking about what happened.”
With that I calmed down, and she let go of me. She stooped down so that we were on eye level.
“Everything is alright darling. We’re alright. And you, you’ll be fine. Remember that whatever happens, we will always be right here beside you.”
She bade me sit down on the couch as she takes her medicines from the cabinet and started washing and treating our wounds.
“These are potions. The wounds will heal over night.” She said with a smile.
“And about the school, you need not worry about that. There’s another school Hogwarts, somewhere in Scotland, and I’ll write to the headmaster for you to be accepted. I’ll handle everything. So you can put it out of your mind and get a good night’s rest.”
Mom took me up to bed and tucked me in, all the while humming that lullaby they always sang to me when I was smaller. Dad was there too, standing by the doorway to check if I was alright. Then he went to the side of my bed and kissed me on the forehead.
“Goodnight my little Alexandria.”
“Goodnight our little flower,” mom added.
They left the bed and walked to the doorway, out of the room.
“I’ll have to write that letter to Dumbledore.”
“Okay, I’ll call the owl.”
And with that the door shut with a click, leaving me alone in the darkness. I lifted up my head just high enough to see them leave.
“Goodnight.” I whispered before resigning to slumber at last.
