A Year at Hogwarts

Chapter 2
Sage was watching TV in the crowded playroom where all the orphans were squished together like sardines in a can. Mr. Ravenclaw had long since left, and right now, at noon, they were all watching the news on the tiny TV. Well, all of them except Ms., who had a giant TV in her bedroom and could choose what channel she wanted to watch whenever she wanted to. The kids had to watch the only two channels that were on the TV, which was ancient, and Ms. got to choose which one they were to watch.
Today there were some shocking news. They had even made the newspaper headline: Breaking News! 5 People Mysteriously Killed! The reporter on television was saying "5 strange deaths took place this morning. Doctors at at the city morgue can't explain the cause of them. It's as if they-Zshzshzshz!" The faulty TV suddenly showed grey blurry lines, and an extremely annoying sound came with it. Connection had probably been lost.
"Ugh," groaned some of the kids. Sage sighed. She had been really interested in this specific piece of news that was on right now. "Well, if it's that important it will probably be on tomorrow too." the girl was thinking in her head.
Sage decided that it was time to go upstairs to her room. She flopped down on the bed and contemplated on what she could do to entertain herself. She got up and walked over to the window, and stared outside for a bit. Her thoughts were suddenly disturbed by a furry brown creature-like thing swooping through the air very quickly. Like a shooting star.
Sage saw that it was headed down to the front of the building. She ran to her door, flung it open, and sped down the stairs at top speed. She was extremely curious to see what that thing was.
She swung the front door open just in time to see a little brown owl depositing a letter on the front steps. Sage stepped forward as the barn owl flew away and picked up the envelope that contained the letter. She turned it over and looked at who it was addressed to. After she read the address, Sage opened her mouth to call out to Ms. Johnson to tell her that there was mail for her. But right that instant she froze. She had just thought over what she had read. Ms. Sage Potter... That letter wasn't for Ms.! But no one ever wrote to Sage. The return address was from a certain Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sage thought it must be a joke, perhaps from Mr. Ravenclaw. He often told of a magical school. She opened it anyways, because curiosity had gotten the best of her.
The letter said that she had been accepted to a school for young witches and wizards called Hogwarts. She would be boarding the Hogwarts Express, a train that brings you to Hogwarts, on September the first. The Hogwarts Express was located on a platform with the number nine and three-quarters. Sage thought that there must have been a printing mistake. There couldn't be a platform with that number. Suddenly, somebody cleared their throat behind her.
Sage thought she could recognise the voice. She turned around, very slowly. "What is that?" Ms. Johnson inquired in a menacing tone.
"Nothing, Ms.! Just a silly letter. I think it's a joke."
"Give me that!" Ms. Johnson snatched the letter out of Sage's hands. She read it. Then she read it again, while mumbling something that sounded like this: "Not another one... Just like her... I knew there was something strange about that little Sage weirdo..." Then she ripped up the envelope into tiny pieces. "That's it! Go to your room! Now! You're not going to any stupid Hoggy Warty, or whatever it's called!"
In her room, Sage wondered what all that could mean. Apparently, she was a witch, and Ms. Johnson didn't seem to think that it was a joke. After all, she had said that she wasn't going anywhere, which meant that she thought Hogwarts was real. And what did she mean by "Just like her." Who was "her"? So many unanswered questions were swirling in Sage's head like a tiny tornado. She decided that it was all too complicated, and that she should try to figure all this out tomorrow morning. With that, she walked over to the playroom and picked up the Robin Hood book, which she brought to her room and started to read.
After a few chapters, Sage started to feel like she was being watched. She looked up and saw that perched on her window sill was another small barn owl, a black one this time. It was carrying the same envelope in its' beak. The young girl got up and went to her open window, from where she took the letter out of the owl's beak. "Thank you," she said to the owl. Then it swooped away into the distant sky, which was now a shade of light pink as the sun was setting. Sage opened the envelope, and it was the same letter indeed. This could definitely not be a joke anymore.
