Meeting the Daughter of Death
Chapter 9
I opened my eyes and stirred. Where am I? I thought, getting up to stand.
“Ow!” I smacked my head against something hard above me.
I looked above my head. Bars.
Beside me. Bars.
Under me. Bars.
I was in a cage.
I tries to get up but my hands were tied behind me with a thick metal cord with glowing red lava lines on them.
I attempted to free myself but a sudden shock of electricity through my body told me I shouldn't ever try.
“Oh you’re awake,” said a voice.
“Who’s there?” I called backing away.
Someone was walking towards me. I backed away.
“Go away!” I yelled, panicking, “Leave me alone!”
The person came into view and I saw it was a woman in dark robes.
“It’s time,” she said, unlocking my cell door, taking off my handcuffs, and dragging me out.
I wanted to ask for what but I could tell it wasn’t the time for it.
The woman dragged me through a few corridors and through a heavy metal door.
“Here she is,” said the woman, throwing me on the floor and stepping to stand back into the shadows. The room was very spacious and large metal chains hung from the ceiling.
“Thank you, Fionna. Welcome, Annabelle Colder,” I heard from the shadows in front of me.
“Who’s there?” I called, “What do you want?”
The sound of rustling filled my ears and suddenly Milly Johnson dressed in a black velvet dress with a cone like collar and a red belt with a large golden buckle appeared in front of me.
“Milly!” I cried and ran over to my friend to give her a hug. But before I could, I noticed her expression. It showed a mix of pride and evilness.
“Milly?” I whispered, “Are you okay ?”
Milly gave a vampire tooth smile and replied, “Oh yes. But I can’t say the same about you.”
A set of spotlights clicked on, highlighting three clear green cylinders filled with glittering watery liquid. One held a woman with green robes and red hair, one with a young teenaged boy, and the last with an average aged woman.
I looked closer at the people and gasped.
“Mom! Peter! Princess Talia!” I turned to face Milly, “Did you do this?”
Milly grinned and nodded.
I ran over to the case holding my mom and banged on the glass. Mom didn't stir.
I ran over Milly and shouted in her face, “You killed them! You killed them! You monster!”
Milly hissed at me.
“They're not dead, you idiotic fool,” she spat, “They're just unconscious. Now do you know why I've kidnapped them?”
I pointed to the locket. Milly nodded.
“I need that locket. I need it to bring my parents back to life and my father and I can take over the world together!”
“No!” I yelled backing away.
“Fine,” Milly snapped her fingers and Mom, Peter, and Princess Talia were electrified with electricity.
Milly crackled and her skin melted into a black ribbony substance.
“Mom! Peter!” I turned to face the deathly monster that had done this to my family, “Let them go!”
“Why should I?” it hissed, “I don’t have my family so why should you?”
“Just because you don’t doesn’t mean you can take other’s away!” I cried.
I saw the monster’s mouth curve into a smile, “Well maybe I shouldn’t take them.” It pointed to my mom and brother. “I should take you instead!”
The red eyed monster jumped at me with black feelers wide, ready to grabbed and strangled.
I screamed and ran back forwards, right past Fionna.
“Wha-?” she managed before the Consumer bashed into her.
I ran as if my life depended on it(which it did!) with the silent gliding Consumer on my tail.
“There’s no escape, Annie,” slithered the snake-like voice of my pursuiter, “Give me the locket!”
I screamed and kept running. It was kinda like Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets where Harry was running from the Basilisk but I was running from the Consumer which was technically like Death herself.
I whipped around to look at Milly and got a red eyed, vampire toothed deathly grin back.
I looked ahead and saw that we were approaching a large rock almost the size of a giant.
I was trapped.
“There's no one to save you, Annie,” crackled the monster as I smacked the rock and turning to face it, “You're dead! Now, give….me….the….locket!”
I clutched the locket and shouted as loudly and bravely as I could, “Over my dead body!”
“Oh so you want to play it that way do you!?” She jumped at me. Cold, black ribbons of nothingness wrapped around my sneaker and up to my knees. I tried to peeled them away but it clung on tight like snake.
“Let go!” I grunted, trying desperately to pry the blackness off me.
“Give me the locket!” shouted my ex-friend, trying to yanking the locket off my neck.
I squeezed my eyes shut and thought, Get off of me!
Suddenly, I felt a burning sensation on top of my chest and my eyes flew open. The monstrous Consumer had flown back and hit the wall and was now covered with gigantic boulders. The locket around my neck was glowing like a flashlight and was floated right above my nose.
I seized the locket with my hand and ran over to the green glass cases. I squeezed my eyes shut and thought, Open the cases.
A sudden crash cause my eyes to open and I saw I had opened the cases. Water gushed on to the floor and Mom, Peter, and Princess Talia fell to the ground.
“Mom! Peter! Princess Talia!” I rushed over to their side and checked to make sure they were alive. Mom and Peter coughed up some water and started breathing heavily. The princess coughed and sat up.
“It's okay,” I whispered, stroking Mom’s hair. In a few minutes, Mom, Peter, and Princess Talia are all okay. As I hug Mom, I hear something behind me.
“My plan was perfect,” hissed Milly, raising from the mountain of boulders, “Capture the most precious people who Annie Colder loves the most and use them as bait but YOU messed it up!”
The CODE leader sprang at me like I was a mouse and she was cat ready to catch me and eat me. I hand the locket to Princess Talia and said, “I believe this belongs to you.”
Princess Talia blinked as I raced off the distract the Consumer.
“So what if I messed it up!” I yelled, “You’re still not getting the locket!”
The monster screamed and snatched me up off the ground. I squirmed and kicked but I couldn't get free from tightening grip.
“Let her go!” hollered my mother, running up to the bottom the monster and hitting on it. Peter and the Princess did the same thing.
“Go away you stupid woman,” said the Consumer, flicking her and the others away. Then, the evil monster turned its attention back to me.
“Good-bye, Annie Colder,” said Milly as the blackness started to consume me again. It twisted around my neck and down around my torso.
“Noooo….” I choked as blackness started to cover my eyes.
“Leave her alone, you monster!”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a boy with a sword swing down on one of the chains hanging from the ceiling. Irwin.
As he approached Milly’s head, Irwin swung the sword, slicing off a good chunk of the blackness. Milly roared and dropped her grip on me. I screamed as I plumped towards the ground. Closing my eyes, I prepared for the worst.
WUMP!
“You're okay,” said Mimi, looking at me with her blue eyes.
“Mimi!” I smiled and jumped out of her arms.
“How did you get here?” I asked, looking around at the ATPE warriors that had surrounded Milly. I saw Tabitha and the pixies attacking as well.
“We followed you,” said Mimi, plucking a tracer off my shirt. I chuckled but almost immediately changed the subject.
“I found my mom and brother!” I exclaimed, “And Princess Talia! They need your help right now. Can you send a group of people over there to make sure they're okay?”
“Oh thank the stars!” said Mimi, “We thought the Princess was dead!”
And she went over to tell Captain Jonas to sent some troops over to assist Mom, Peter, and the Princess.
Then I turned my attention to the monster.
