Chapter 6
They say the incomprehensible vastness of the universe, of space, can make a person indescribably lonely or Cold. While it may be true, Eleven was unsure if even the darkest, deepest depths of the oceans were as cold and lonely as the Void in which she had been forced to visit so many times. She could only visit this place using her extraordinary Extrasensory Perception. A place of which she normally could only reach with the aid of a sensory deprivation tank. There she entered the mental void where she was able to observe people and creatures in different physical locations, even other dimensions. She could also make contact with them, or remain unseen while eavesdropping on them if she chose to. While in this mental void, she was still able to communicate with her physical surroundings to some extent.
But before she found her target, this place, this location was completely desolate of anything except seemingly never-ending blackness. The only thing to keep her from feeling like she might fall forever was that the ground or lack-there-of was covered with water. Not deep, just a few centimeters. Her reflection was the only way she knew there truly was anything there. Otherwise it was just empty for as far as the eye could see in any direction. It was this place that the little girl thought of every time she felt completely alone. It was this place she was truly afraid of being stuck in for the rest of eternity. It was here that her Demon was born. Something she feared more than any other living creature in existence: the Demogorgon.
Whenever it was dark and there was no light, she would panic. Feeling as though she were back in the void and the Demogorgon might appear at any moment to rip her asunder.
