No stranger would it be...
written by Eleven

Chapter 4
((Basically a revised version of an OWL RP done with Hamish and his cute little question in the statuses))
Family; despite a general idea of what it was Eleven yearned to truly understand what it meant to people. Gathering her courage wasn't enough, fear still plagued her and there were the occassional rude student who would point and laugh, asking who hated her enough to name her after a Number. So she had gone to her friend Hamish for help. He didn't have any siblings, but he explained to her what it was like to have two dads. He told her some people didn't understand and picked on him for that, as they picked on her name or other students who weren't pureblood. She didn't understand why people had problems with these things at all. He smiled and told her that's why she was so special, before turning red as a tomatoe and practically falling off of his chair as she stared at him.
He offered to help her go around and ask people about family. The funniest answer received was "Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotton." He made a future note that Owen Grady wasn't a reliable source for serious scientific investigations. While Eleven actually giggled at the man's impersonation of Stitch. They decided the Great Hall was a good place to start their real search for answers, as most kids ended up in there more than most parts of the School. Hamish stopped at a table of Ravenclaw students first. "So, like why is this so important?" A girl questioned, tucking a bookmark in place before giving the two first years her undivided attention. "Well..." The boy had started but it was Eleven who stepped forwards to answer. "...I have a sister now. I didn't have a sister before. She.. is an amazing person and.." She didn't know how to express the rest of her feelings on the matter.
The older female gave a kind smile, as her friends whispered things like 'aw' and Hamish hoped they meant it and weren't mocking his friend. "These are my sisters, well only one is by blood. But blood isn't important. A sister is more than a friend, it's someone who even if you get mad at each other you'll always love each other." She explained, before a much smaller girl not much older than Hamish or El nodded eagerly. "I wouldn't trade my sister for anything in the world, not money or a long life, nothin' she's always there for me." These comments went on for a while, and a few Hufflepuffs who overheard had agreed. A seventh year Slytherin boy with white hair, was more than happy to help out as well. All the while Hamish was writing everything down for later. Eleven was very grateful to them all and went to think about what they had said.
Hamish wasn't done and wanted at least one more example, luckily Olivia, a friend of El's had been the only other student kind enough to answer his question.
[Her answer was as follows: "Family is a group of people that you care a out and they care about you back. They will love you no matter what happens to you, and care about you through the hardest of times! Family means the world to me. It feels good to have someone that cares about you. I am very lucky to have a great family that will care for me no matter what I do. So yeah. That's what family is to me."]
With his study complete, he had rushed off to find El sitting out in the snow alone. She was doing her best to write a poem, only she didn't know it was a poem until he explained it to her. He told her about what her friend had said and she smiled. Thinking Olivia was like a sister too. The two of them together managed to put, more or less, everything they knew into a poem. Eleven had thanked Hamish with a hug and went off to deliver the paper to the Ravenclaw dorm.
"Daiana, I never thought I could have family. But you told me you were my sister, and sister's love each other very much. I didn't know how to thank you, so I hope this is okay..
A sister is someone who loves you from the heart,
No matter how much you argue, you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away,
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.
A friend who helps you through difficult times,
Her comforting words are worth much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with laughs and smiles,
These memories last for miles and miles.
When she is by your side, the world is filled with life,
When she is not around, your days are full of strife.
A sister is a blessing who fills your heart with love,
She flies with you in life with the beauty of a dove.
A companion to whom you can express your feelings,
Whether you are having your ups or downs,
She always helps you with a smile and never frowns.
With a sister, you cannot have a grudge.
She is as sweet as chocolate and as smooth as fudge. (Hamish that sounds stupid)
Having a sister is not just a trend,
It is knowing you can always turn to her, your best friend."
