Chapter 5 - The Fat Friar
Hufflepuff has arguably the friendliest house ghost in Hogwarts, The Fat Friar.
The fat friar is described as a cheerful, jolly man and very forgiving. He is known for being the only ghost willing to give Peeves another chance, and another and another.
He was born no earlier than 982 somewhere in the British Isles. After Hogwarts he joined the clergy as part of a mendicant religious order. However, he was executed when senior churchmen grew suspicious of his ability to cure the pox merely by poking people with a stick, and he had a habit of pulling rabbits out of the communion cup.
Although he knew it would cost him his life, The Fat Friar used his magic to heal those who had no other way of finding a cure. I cannot think of a more courageous and noble act, can you?
