"You'll want to get into Gryffindor. It's the best house." James told me, as if he's already in Gryffindor. "My whole family was in Gryffindor." I only nodded as I examined the new wand in my hand.
"Flourish and Blotts next!" James's' mother said cheerfully.
James and his mother look a lot alike, I noticed. They have the same face. While me, I look nothing like my mother. People have told her she looks exactly like Snow White. And I'm a short, Asian boy.
"What's your blood status?" James asked suddenly.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Are you a pureblood, half blood, or muggle born? I'm a pureblood, not that it really matters all that much."
"I'm still not sure I understand."
"Is one of your parents a wizard?"
"Well... I don't know about my father. I've never met him. But my mother's not."
"Oh, so she's a Muggle?" I glance fearfully at my mother, but she was deep in conversation with James' mum.
"Shhh! She doesn't like that word!"
