“There has been more than 100 of these strange attacks all over the town. If it does not stop soon, we are going to have to close down the school and start moving people out!” Mr. Crandy said wringing his hands.
The mayor paced over to his whiteboard and then paced back to the long meeting table where all the rather important people of the town sat, staring intently back at him. They were all obviously thinking the same thing. What to do? All of a sudden the librarian at the school and the public Library, Mrs. Tart, spoke.
“ Ever since Mrs. Bailey died,I think you know who that was, Mr. Crandy?” She said.
“ Ah yes! She was quite a great librarian too!” Mr. Crandy replied.
“ Yes. And ever since she died, the students have been, well, very depressed. They have also been afraid. I suggest that you go comfort them, mayor. Then you may not have to remove them from town. I mean, If you decided that they would be safer out, then sure. But look at the community you have started! In my opinion, I think it would be quite rude to move everyone out of there fine homes even if we may not be dealing with anything bad, and people may just have caught a bad disease.” She said.
“ Well, don’t you think it is a little strange that they have been disappearing without a trace? All that was on the crime scene was… Hey! Its that little sneak boy again!” Mr. Randy stopped in mid-sentence. For peering through the window, was a scrawny boy about 12 years old. Everyone’s head turned in the direction of the window. Mrs. Tart’s head snapped over before everyone else’s. Before the boy ducked away from sight, he thought he caught a glimpse of red in her eyes. Probably just his imagination…
