Chapter 1: Introductions

Chapter 1
"The oldest recorded merpeople were known as sirens (Greece) and it is in warmer waters that we find the beautiful mermaids more frequently depicted in Muggle literature and painting. The Selkies of Scotland and the Merrows of Ireland are less beautiful, but they share that love of music which is common to all merpeople."
- Newt Scamander

Merpeople - Are fascinating, and mysterious creatures. Little is known about their lives as they are very distrustful of humans, and I would like to stress that all information in this book is correct as far as current studies show, but further study is needed.

Magizoologist's who specialise in the study of Merpeople often speak of their high sentiency, their ability to create elaborate communities and their strong communication skills. Yet Merpeople are still classified as Beasts rather than Beings by the Ministry of Magic, and in this book I invite you to explore why.
