Wit-Sharpening Potion
Chapter 2
Use/Effect:
The Wit-Sharpening Potion is used to aid in concentration. It is especially useful if taken before an important exam.
Ingredients:
water (500mL)
scarab beetles (coarsely ground; 2)
ginger root (cut; 5g)
armadillo bile (9 drops)
Instructions:
Bring water to a delicate simmer
Add scarab beetles and stir 5 times, clockwise
Allow to simmer for 5 minutes
Add ginger without stirring and simmer for 20 minutes
Allow solution to cool, stirring 7 times every 3 minutes, alternating clockwise and counter-clockwise stirrings
When heat can no longer be felt when a hand is placed above the potion, add armadillo bile
Allow potion to sit for 8 minutes (potion will smell foul)
Notes:
This potion is sensitive to temperature so be sure to pay particular attention to the fire while brewing.
In order to make the potion taste more pleasant, put a peppermint leaf upon the tongue and then, sip the potion. However, do not put the peppermint in the potion itself as steeping peppermint in the potion could alter the properties of the potion.
Depending upon the brewing, one should feel the effects of the potion within 10 minutes, though it can take up to one hour.
