Wyvern
Chapter 1
a legendary creature with a dragon's head and wings, a reptilian body, two legs and a tail. Do not confuse it with a dragon who has four legs. The wyvern is often associated (but not 100% always) with cold weather and ice or even water, it will sometimes possess a venomous bite, but will never have the ability to breathe fire. Wyverns are sometimes seen as distantly related to dragons, or the first form of dragons.
They tend to live solitary, however if food is scarce they will tend to flock together to better be able to survive. Older Wyverns solve problems in a non-violent way, unknown ways while younger wyverns (being stupid and aggressive) will attack each other for food, to show dominance or establish territory.
Never under any circumstance should you approach a young wyvern. As said above they are stupidly young and aggressive. However one may approach an older wyvern as long as they are careful. Older wyverns are far more intelligent and there have been accounts, where older wyverns can talk and understand different tongues and native speech.
Some wyverns do tend to hoard like dragons do, and other's don't. This might be because the two species are somehow related. The wyvern's habitat is in the middle of Europe, around France, the UK, and Greece. The old french, middle english, anglo-french and latin muggles were the first to use the term 'wyvern' however, they did not know that this actual beast existed. Instead a wizard whose name has since been lost in time, wrote the first ever considered story of wyverns, which has since joined the muggle mythology realm.
A wyvern's body is typically 15 ft long, and they are usually dark brown to grey however their coloring can depend on what type of climate they are in as well as what sort of magic they may be associated with. Their wingspan is about 20-35 ft. A wyvern weighs about 1 ton, sometimes more sometimes less. Wyverns tend to like to live in open spaces, preferring warm hills and a food source.
Attacking wise they can dive from the air, snatching their enemy and stinging it to death. Some wyverns have a poisonous tip on their tails and as they get older, they are able to control this at will. A wyvern can also bite, fight, and do a flyby slash attack with the use of it's sharp talons. Those that are predisposed to do magic can and will do so whether it is making a blizzard by usage of their wings, or shooting ice at their enemies. Never should you underestimate a wyvern. That will lead to much destruction, death, and your doom.
