Chapter 9 - The Duelling Club
Chapter 9
Morning came. All the students were woken up by the sun outside. Every house, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin were also awake. Every Gryffindor were out too, except for Harry, Ron, Hermione and Linda were still asleep. Seamus came upstairs and shouted:
" Hey, you guys, wake up!"
Linda woke up. She looked so dry and her hair was so messy. She said:
"What the hell? Augh, Seamus can't you just -"
"No, Professor McGonagall said that you guys should hurry up before she comes herself to get you out of the dormitory and give you detentions. She said if you don't want to expect that, you must quickly finish up before she turns up. So you better get cracking." He went out of the boys' dormitories and told the same thing to the girls in the girls' dormitories.
Linda went to the boys' dormitories and went and wake up Harry.
"Sweetheart wake up! Seamus have been here and said that if we don't hurry up, McGonagall is going to come up here and give detention. Wake up, darling." She leans and kisses him.
"Hey, what's going on?" Harry asked, looking dizzy.
"We overslept!" Linda answered, trying hard to be clear.
"Then, there is no time to lose. Let's hurry up." Harry said, jumping out of bed.
"Well, I'm nearly done. Last look of the day, Vestitium!" She changed into her robes.
"And... done!" Harry said, at last, wearing his shoes. "Let's go!"
As they were walking, lots of people of each house were going to The Great Hall.
"Just in time!" Ron said.
They went to sit with the Gryffindor table and listened up for Dumbledore's speech:
"If you have not yet known, you must always be sure of what you are doing in classes. I must expect good standard from each and everyone of you and be of good behaviour. That's all, now, quietly, go to your first lesson and have a good day." He dismissed everyone and they were off.
The second year's first lesson was Defence Against The Dark Arts and the classroom was turned into a catwalk stage. Everyone gathered around so people would have spaced to fit in too.
Then Gilderoy came out. Everyone was happy to see him, apart from Linda, Harry and Ron.
Then he began to say:
"Well, today we have a practical lesson. But, people don't like me only because of my charming smile," he smiled broadly. "Is because of my famous portrait. Anyway, today we are going to learn how to Disarm an opponent with the Disarming Spells. So my opponent will be Professor Snape." Everyone turned their heads to the other side and saw Professor Snape coming here. They began at once. The pupils watched as they demonstrated the process. Then Lockhart said:
"One, two..."
"Expelliarmus!" Snape cried, as he waved his wand. Lockhart was thrown backwards and ended up hitting the floor with his back. He stood up and said:
"Well, that was a very useful spell. If you didn't do that, I would have able to stop you."
"Well, the way we do it, wizards and witches must be able to perform certain Disarming Charms to oppose each other." Snape said.
"Err.. yes, very true Professor Snape. OK, let's see... ha! Potter, Weasley how about you?" Lockhart asked, pointing at him. But Harry just went. He tried to let go of Linda's hand, but she wouldn't. She was in tears because she didn't wanted to leave him. So, without being seen, he kissed Linda on the lips and went to the stage where he will perform with Draco Malfoy.
"Weasley has a broken wand and he might send Potter to the hospital wing. Perhaps one person from my house, maybe Malfoy?" Snape asked. He sent Malfoy into the platform to compete against Harry. They didn't do the process, but instead, Malfoy asked Harry:
"Scared Potter?"
"You wish." Harry answered coldly.
They turned against each other and prepared to cast their charm.
"Try to cast you charm to disarm your opponent, only to disarm. Ready, one-"
Harry was panting a little .
"two-"
Before he knew it, Malfoy shouted:
"Everte Statum!" Malfoy shouted.
Harry was thrown backwards in the air and landed with a loud thud.
Linda gasped and whispered to Hermione:
"Is he alright?"
"Should be, it's just Disarming Charm."
"OK."
He stood up and yelled:
"Rictumsempra!" Malfoy was thrown backwards and ended up into bits. Snape took him and dragged him back to the platform and Malfoy yelled:
"Serpensortia!" A long snake came out of the tip of his wand and Harry went to it and hissed;
"Leave him!" The snake turned away from McClaggen.
Snape casted a charm and the snake vanished. He asked rudely:
"What are you playing at?"
Harry didn't know what he was talking about and he frowned and left the platform and out of the door. Hermione, Ron and Linda followed him.
They reached into an attic where it was deserted and Ron said:
"You're a Palsemouth!"
"I'm a what?"
"You're a Palsemouth, sweetheart, you can talk to snakes. You've never told us before!" Linda whispered.
"How can it be? Well, there was this day I went to a zoo with my cousin Dudley. Then, when I was talking to this snake, it kind of moved and started responding me, long story." Harry responded.
"If you talk to snakes, you know the snake there? It represents the Slytherins. Which means that if you can talk to snakes, they will think that you are the great-great grandson or something." Ron answered, in a panicked voice.
"But I'm not!" Harry answered back, beginning to lose his patience. They got out of the attic and proceeded to their dormitories immediately.
