Initiation in dueling
Chapter 10
"Isn't it a little early for you .. Roland?"(Jessica)
"It might be dangerous..."(One of them)
The Ravenclaw dueling club's selections were about to start the very next day, and Roland, after his talk with Daenerys, couldn't hesitate but to preprare for those selections.
There was a group for each year, thus Roland needed training for being accepted in the year 1 dueling group.
Dueling was, by that time, considered as important as quidditch.
So, the requiements were the following:
" Any first year student that wishes to apply for the dueling club, must master these 3 fundamental spells:
->Stupefy
->Protego
->Expelliarmus
To an extent, where they can cast these spells at least 5 times each without backfire or failure.
Each succesful cast will be graded as 1 point, thus, to be accepted, first year students must score at least 15 points.
They will cast each spell 10 times, and for each correct cast the participant will earn 1 point.
That means passing scores will vary from 15 to 30.
Typical first year DADA spells such as Flipendo,Verdimillius,Vermilious are also welcome, and the students that need just a little help to get 15 points can cast these spells to make their score a passing one.

NOTE:Selections will have place everyday from 5 to 7 PM at the Transfiguration courtyard, by Bill Song."
Roland read even the Club's timetable(last year edition).

"
Roland didn't hesitate a moment, the preselections started the very next day, so his next destination was the library, searching for a book that taught the spells above.
He walked through the corridors of Hogwarts full of determination.
He entered the library, a big hall with bookstands, and in the center, desks for the students to sit and read.
The sun illuminated the library, so the scene was quite beautiful that morning.
He approached the librarian, lady Merta, and asked where to find the book he needs.
"'Initiation in Dueling' by Mathilda Eyespaw is the book you need, it contains many other spells and tips for dueling, go to the 3rd line at the right, dear" said the libriarian, looking at the boy with suspiciousness at with a dry smile.
He went to the 3rd line as instructed, and found a violet book with golden strays, it had like 200 pages.
He walked back gently to the tables, and opened the book.
"But don't practice spells in the library!" Merta shouted.
"Okay." Roland said promptly.
He looked at Stupefy first, the spell was actually really easy to cast.
The hardest spell to cast was the disarming charm, expelliarmus ,he just couldn't get the wand movement right!
He was practicing in the Great Hall, along with Jessica and Mimi, they were looking at him.
"Well.. i guess you are alright..." said Jessica looking at him in awe.
"Expelliarmus is pretty hard to cast, i see.I don't know... how they imagine a first year could cast a disarming charm succesfully?" asked Mimi rethorically.
"Let's see Roland, try to disarm me..." said Jessica standing a mile away from Roland.
"He has been practicing for hours now..." said Mimi, eating chips.
Roland yelled "Expelliarmus"
Jessica's wand flew out of her hands, she moved to the right to catch it, as it would fell in the soup otherwhise.
"Wow.. nice job" said Mimi amazed.
Roland kept his father's tip and kept a spell journal, a page for every spell he ever learned and ever will learn.
With these 3 new spells, Roland knew by then like 10 spells.
He had practiced expelliarmus for at least 2 hours, and he finally got it, after all that time!
He went to sleep at like 10 PM, much over the curfew.
The next morning, which was on Sunday, the first thing he did was to have breakfast and practice further!
The hour finally came, as he walked to the Transfiguration Courtyard, he met Zelena West.
"Ouh. Ough... Roland, coming for the dueling club?" she asked the boy curiously, exiting the classroom 1-D, the transfiguration class.
"Yes, professor, i can't wait..." said Roland, looking at his teacher.
"The Ravenclaw Dueling Club is really picky when it comes to first year students, they think that they might be too weak for dueling.. i hope you, atleast, will prove them wrong." said Zelena, looking at the boy profoundly.
"Professor, why are you telling me that?" Roland asked.
"I have never understood why the dueling club has a preselection at all... it would be meant to teach people how to protect themselves, not to make the house win the Dueling Cup"
"What Dueling Cup?" Roland asked curiously.
"The Dueling Cup is the cup which is awarded to the house victorious at The Tournament. The tournament is a set of duels for each grade, and the house that wins the most tournaments will win the Dueling cup. And also, the students that won the competition get the chance of competing in the Tournament beetween Hogwarts and other magic schools around the world, to travel to other schools like Hogwarts, and exchange experience with them."
"Ravenclaw hasn't won any competitions for some years now, i guess that's the reason its club has become that picky..." said Zelena, looking at the ravenclaw students who were getting ready for the selections.
"Bye for now, Targaryen." said Zelena, walking away.
"Bye professor." said Roland
It's strange... Zelena West hadn't had many contacts with Roland, he stays quiet at Transfiguration class all the time.
Anyway, he approached the preselections.
A blonde girl was sitting at a desk, while chewing gum.
"Do you want to try yourself out?" she asked.
"Yes." Roland said.
"Name?"
"Roland Targaryen."
"Year?"
"1st year"
"Great, BILL! We have a first year student here, he wants to be tested." the girl shouted.
"Coming Maxine" Bill said, from the back of the wall.
"So... " said Bill while getting a list out. "See that dummy?" he asked.
"Yes, i see it." Roland said, looking at the dummy.
"Cast Stupefy.. at it... from 5 to 10 shots" said Bill.
Roland casted Stupefy rapidly at the dummy, the dummy got his cotton out of his sack, so Maxine shouted "Reparo" and the dummy was fixed. He casted the spell 10 times.
"Now try to disarm the dummy.." said Bill.
Roland casted expelliarmus correctly only 5 times, but still is an achievement.
"Now try to defect my spells with your protego shield." said Bill.
Roland, looking directly at Bill's wand, casted Protego, and defended himself from all the 10 jinxes.
"Maxine, what's his score?" Bill asked.
"25..." said Maxine, still chewing gum.
"You may enter the dueling club... " said Bill.
Bill, a 20 year-old elite auror, had a dark long hair which was half way to his shoulders, had a small but faint smile on his face, when he told the news to our protragonist. He was tall,so Roland always had to look up to talk him.
"You are the only first year that have applied yet." said Maxine. "We are kinda happy that somebody actually passed this." she said promtly, STILL chewing the gum.
"Come on Wednesday at 5:00 PM, we will have our first meeting then.Until next time, Roland.." said Maxine, waving to him.
"Bye." said Roland, walking down the corridor of the courtyard.
it was quite cold outside, and Roland felt an easy cold moving into his throat,a dry caugh came out of his mouth, he leaned his hand to cover it.
As he was going to the Grand Staircase, he encountered his "dear" brother.
"Great... please.. don't say a word" was Roland thinking , when he saw his sibling, coming down from the third floor corridor.
"I heard you were accepted in the dueling club!" said Tudor with a sarcastic smile, at least Roland thought that way.
"From where did you hear that? I just barely had my audition!"
"As you are delusional... you can trick people to do whatever you want." said Tudor, looking at his brother with a disgusted face, taking out his wand.
"What's the wand for?" Roland asked in pression.
"To do something fun.. .at least for me..." said Tudor. "Everte Statum!" he shouted the next minute.
Roland was sent flying back to the corridor he just came from.
"Why is he doing this?" Roland asked himself, while getting up from the floor.
"Oh... gosh... you don't know how to cast a shield? Are you that retarded?" said Tudor, walking towards his little brother, waving his wand foolishly in air.
Roland, feeling the pain of the cold in his throat, suddenly shouted :
"Expelliarmus!"
Which has been proven to be a successful, if not a perfect, disarming charm, as Tudor's wand flew miles, into a knight armor, which standed at the margin of the corridor.
"Flipendo tria!" Roland shouted, directly at Tudor's nose, which broke.
"AH!" said Tudor.
Roland ran down the corridors of Hogwarts from his bully brother, Tudor, running straight after him, threw jinxes, curses, charms, whatever he could to stop his target.
Roland has reached the Ravenclaw tower, as he was trying to run up the stares, he tripped, but before Tudor could have casted something he should never.. Roland casted a simple but painful curse:
"Mucus Ad Naudseam" followed by a "verdimillious".
Roland ran up to the door:
"What's the other part of life?"
"Death" he answered.
Tudor : "DAMN YOU LITTLE PIECE OF..."
Roland, shocked a little by everything, remained in the Common Room for the rest of the day.
