Meet The Princess
Chapter 4
Just as the Advisor entered the palace, the Prince came storming down the extravagant stairs in a flustered rage. The Advisor rushed to the Prince to ask what was wrong, and the young man sputtered that the Princess had shown him grave disrespect, treating him as though he were insignificant and entirely trivial, shrugging him off as being just another prince she would meet, like all the others. The Prince continued, saying he could not believe she thought these scathing insults could be hurled at a prince without any political consequences, declaring it an act of war, while she treated it as just a throwaway joke. The Advisor begged him to forgive her, as she is youthful, but truly well-meaning. The Prince refused, stating this was simply yet another insult their kingdom had heaped upon his. He had considered extending their alliance, but after this ordeal, it was now completely out of the question. The Prince declared that the next time he returned to the kingdom, it would be with an army. The Advisor tried to reason with him again, but the Prince simply left with the parting statement that The Advisor should prepare for war.
Now more panicked and fruatrated than ever, the Advisor hurried to find the Princess and demand an explaination for her actions. Finding her in her room, the Advisor questioned when she would learn that her actions had consequences, describing the Prince's threat of war because of her insulting manner towards him. The Princess responded with ease, concluding he was a joke, just like every other cocky prince she'd met. He remarked that even if that was so, not all of her suitors have deserved such disregard and mistreatment. The Princess contested, stating that none had come close to her standards. The Advisor, exasperated, reminded her that she would have to get married one day. She retorted that if she ever married, she wanted it to be for love.
The Advisor's voice grew heavy, stating that one day she would learn that life wasn't about dreams coming true. It was just a series of compromises and disappointments. He then exclaimed that the kingdom was now worse off than ever and he would have to figure out a way to clean up her mess. Then he left.
Once alone, the Princess pondered if she would ever reach understanding with the others like her fsther and the Advisor, who still contolled what she would do with her life. She yearned to find a greater purpose, a greater adventurer outside the palace walls. Despite all her power, she felt powerless to change her future.
