A Thief And A Prince
Chapter 3
As the Advisor walked the streets of the marketplace outside the palace, he was approached by his Captain of the Guard, who had come to inform him of a masterful, sly thief that had been alluding his guards. They had gone on a mad chase after him as he left chaos in his wake with his reckless abandon for everything around him. The Captain spoke of him being a devilish fiend who everyday robbed from the common folk, and that day alone he caused the deaths of two of the guards that had been trying to catch him. The captain was quick to blame the Advisor, who in turn exasperatingly questioned how it could have been his fault. The Captain exclaimed that there would be no thieves if the kingdom's wealth was restored to prosperity and equality like he had promised.
The Captain inquired why the Advisor even bothered to visit commoners like them anymore. The Advisor explained that a prince from one of their neighboring kingdoms was coming to visit, and he had come to welcome him personally. The Captain assumed it was another suitor for the Princess, but the Advisor stated that the trade agreement between their kingdoms has expired and he must extend the contract to avoid the kingdom falling to ruin. The Advisor had worked to make sure the prince's visit would be pleasant, and that everyone must treat him with the utmost respect. The Captain exclaimed that he had seen this prince ride into the marketplace that morning, being accosted by the very thief they had been after earlier. Shocked, the Advisor decided he'd better get back to the palace to make sure his visit with the Princess went well. Before parting, he implored the Captain go and continue his attempts to apprehend the Thief.
