How to properly ride a domesticated Thestral

Chapter 5
Yes, this creature has wings, and for that reason alone someone is going to attempt riding one. For this reason I implore you to pay attention to just a few tips to ensure your safety and the safety of the Thestral.

Firstly, If you intend to fly, It is extremely important that you sit low on the Thestral, as to make sure your legs do not intrude on the wings joints. In other words, keep your feet and legs back behind the wing, do not attempt taking off with your legs over the side, intruding on the wings movement. This will either cause you to fall off, or the Thestral to injure itself.

Secondly, It may be a good idea to hold onto the mane of the Thestral to keep balance, Thestrals have sleek backs, that are easy to slip off if balance is lost.

Thirdly, Please remember that the Minostry of Magic has classified the Thestral as dangerous, unless your Thestral has been trained and domesticated, it is not a wise idea to attempt mounting it.

Fourthly, If the Thesral is invisible to you (because you have not seen death) It is not a good idea that you ride alone, for safety reasons you should ride behind someone who can see the Thestral. High winds can be debilitating, if you can not see the Thestral your likelihood of not being properly mounted is drastically increased.
